12 valve upgrades for towing

Ok, im gonna be buying a '96 or '97 dually and i want to set it up for towing.

Heres what im looking for:

400-425 rwhp is the goal

: what turbo will work at this hp, keeping egts low while not takin forever to spool up [ive been told piers modified hx40], what about a super b?

: what injectors do i need?

:fuel plate?

:timing?

:clutch?

I need to know how to take a bone stock truck to probably 400 rwhp from start to finish, walk me though it, as i dont know too much about 12valve performance stuff

Thanks,
Roy

Also, stock straight thru, 4", or 5" exhaust? Want good flow, and loud dont bother me.

-piers modified HX40 would be decent, but a varient of the S300 or a small set of twins would be better

-injectors you could go for marine 370s but they will get a little tosty for towing, look to industrial injection, piers, or one of the other injector companys about what you want out of it

-fuel plate, a #10 will be a good plate, a #100 would be good too but might get a little hot on the top end

-timing go to 15.5 or 16 degrees

-clutch go to south bend call them up tell them what you want and they will honestly tell you what you need probably a con OFE or con FE those are both 13" upgrades

-on the exhaust you will want probably a 5 inch, you could do 4 but making close to 500hp your going to want the 5

-also with this power your probably going to look towards head studs and o-rings to keep your lid on

-also you will want to get either a 3gsk or 4gsk to use your power all the way through your powerband

anything else just lemme know

is the s300 similar to the bd super b?

i'd go with an HTT HTBG 57 (~$1,050) or a 71 series Super Stock 62 (~$1,670)... both require an HX-40 style downpipe do figure in 160-180 extra for that.... i run the 71 series 64/14 the 14 keeps it perty cool on the egt side..... mainly it depends on how deep your wallet is..... a 4kgsk is a must... don't worry about the valve springs as you'll never turn that beast over 3200 rpm anyway it's just nice to have it fuel hard up to that point..... i don't have any first hand experience with injectors and deliveryvalves as i haven't installed mine yet so i can't comment there.... my 64 is harder than my HX to spool... but i'm still on my stock fuel system (stock pump, deliveryvalves, injectors) but i run plateless... i :q: could :q: peg my 1600 pyro with the stock turbo.... i just didn't do it but a couple of times........ i'd rather let me foot control EGT's than a plate..... JMHO

My wallet isnt all that deep, im looking to make the most safe HP for around $2000 total. I can do all of the work myself, so labor prices dont need to be included. I didnt even realize you could run em w/o a plate. Also, how hard is it to grind your own plate? Id rather grind my own than buy a new one and put the extra $ into somethin else.

So, can i get this kind of safe HP for $2k? If not, how much can i get for that kind of money?

i'd look into the 57 and a dp...you :q:can:q: run plateless...most guys frown on it as if you have some rack travel mods then there is a risk of pump damage..... there is a thread somewhere of P-pump tweeks that is real informative.... it's not hard to grind your plate.... just search on here as there is a thread already talking about fuel plates...... any if there is anything else you want to know pm me or post it up here.....

What about 3 piece manifolds? I have been told by some i need one and by others i dont. If the factory one cracks, ill definately replace it w/a 3 piece, but do i need one if the factory one is fine?
