It is nice that they offer it that way though.:tu: |
Where are you guys getting the adjustable sway bar end links? Thanks!

Thanks. I called Don and left a VM. Tuff Country also makes them I found out.

I just did this upgrade over the weekend on my 99, along with a red head steering box.
It's way tighter now. It actually moves before I turn the wheel a 1/4 turn!;) I had the red head ported for ram assist, so that should also help. |
was wondering do i have to get aftermarket tie rod ends or what im deployed right now and have nothing better to do then look stuff up on diesel bombers. i have the 01 with stock everything up there. skav how much was your red head. i dont need the hydro assisted but just wondering since im already about to be that deep in it might as well replace that

if you do the 4th gen steering assembly this thread talks about, you don't need aftermarket tie rod ends. it is a direct bolt in replacement.
if you are running factory wheels you will need to grind down the ends of the tie rod studs for wheel clearance, but that is it. I have aftermarket offset wheels, so mine clears just fine. |
Just installed this upgrade on my '02 last week, huge improvement for $300 investment. But has anyone else had a problem with the drag link rubbing the front of the oil pan? Also is it recommended to retorque all the nuts after a few hundred miles?

uh, hey, I did the swap when the front end tried to shake me out of the cab, fried the Upper and lower ball joints too. My factory tierods, acquired in June of this year have Zerks? so does the new BD track bar and the (moog) ball joints I just installed. The parts guy said these were different than he had seen in the past, corrosion resistant nuts and all. :rocking:

I called red head and talked to them today. They rebuild the stock units w larger needle bearings and new gears. I ordered the box from them, so I'll post my results after the install. I also plan to replace the tie rods w the 09-10 molar unit.
