Laggy HE351 with plenty of fuel???

Just put an HE351 from a '07 CR truck on my '01 24v along with a set of DDP 110 horse injectors. At the moment I have the wastegate totally plugged off (hose pinched shut) and I even shortened the WG actuator rod a few threads to preload the spring inside it. Problem is that the truck won't build much boost at lower RPMs, and I cannot for the life of me get it to push over 34# at WOT. I've read that this turbo should get over 40# fairly easily. Truck has plenty of fuel, and I have leak tested the intake system and it is good. As of now, the turbo still has the factory WG actuator switch installed in the housing, and I have verified that there is no boost leaking passed it. I do have the plug to replace the actuator switch from ATS ordered, but it's not here yet. Plus, I don't think that is where my problem lies anyways. I just got it to make things look cleaner.

EGT's get hot real quick, and it smokes like a short order cook on a lunch break - even with the Juice turned off. It feels really laggy, and it's pretty tough to tow anything with it and keep it cool. I'd figure that this turbo (60/60/9) should spool almost as fast as the HY35 I took off (especially with the bigger injectors,) but it sure doesn't feel like it is.:td:

Any suggestions?

Use a pair of vise grips or some wire and hold the waste gate shut. It still might be blowing open.

Too much fuel for the turbo

Maybe, but that wouldn't be part of my lag or low top-end boost problem, would it? Doesn't more fuel help the turbo spool faster?

yes to a point but IIRC there is a point where you just flood out a turbo and it does no good. did ya run the HY with all your mods

I did the turbo and injectors at the same time, so I have no baseline to go off of.

I agree your just dumping to much fuel into that little turbo. I had the same problem before i went to my 62/14.

too much fuel can flood the turbo out and make it not spool

I realize I may be a bit overfueled, but do you guys think 110s are enough to do this? I've read of people running 500 hp sticks with this turbo and making it driveable...

Its probably the 9cm housing that is killing you, choking the exhaust side. Drive pressure is probably through the roof! I went from a 9cm HY35 to a 12cm HX35 and the benefits were great all around.
