Something is not right cause you will notice a big difference when you hit the spray.

bump!? come on people :tu:

ok, here are some quick questions.

what is the biggest jet you have?

when you are at full boost, wide open throttle, foot to the floor, full tilt boogie, without nitrous, does the truck smoke or is it clear or a slight haze?

what is your bottle pressure?

RAW 07-13-2010 11:40 PM

Agreed on the pressure available at the nozzle point. If it is not higher than the boost pressure it will not spray nitrous out.

Benjamin 07-13-2010 11:51 PM

oh trust me even the coldest nitrous bottle will have over 100X the pressure any turbo(s) anyone will run on their trucks here on the street. 700-900PSI tends to work OK, 900-1100psi gives more umph in the kick in the pants category.

the reasons i asked the questions above are this.

if your truck does not smoke at all or has a slight haze at WOT nitrous will do little or nothing for you. if you can add more fuel to where it smokes decently at WOT you will feel a difference when the nitrous hits. when you don't have the excess fuel to burn nitrous is only a chemical intercooler to lower EGT's. BTW DO NOT spray nitrous into a motor that is turned off, idling, or hasn't built any boost yet. it WILL cause weird stuff to happen and not in a good or cool way either. if you don't believe me check youtube for "nitrous backfire"

if the .045 is the biggest you have then that could be your problem too. that is a SMALL shot on a diesel. i ran a .035 and it barely made a difference in engine rev, boost, egt, smoke etc. i jumped to a .068 and it made it feel GOOD and was manageable. it wasn't too harsh, i still had a haze of smoke but it wasn't as thick as before. once i get my new setup together and tuned i'll be using the .083 that i picked up a while back...:pca1:

Benjamin 07-13-2010 11:59 PM

and BTW if you have the fuel to burn when using nitrous....

A Nitrous jet size of .045" or 1.143mm should produce:
91.45 HP with 1 port

Actual HP to the wheels: 77.73 HP

A Nitrous jet size of .083" or 2.1082mm should produce:
311.12 HP with 1 port

Actual HP to the wheels: 264.45 HP

these numbers are all in :":theory:": and based on some online calculators. there are NUMEROUS factors that will make that number higher or lower.

o45 is the biggest

it has a slight haze

i just filled the bottle priar to using it.

What type of programming are you using?

24vmatt 07-14-2010 12:15 PM

he has a smarty'Revo&quadzilla 4Ktunes stack

you need to add more fuel, if you want the nitrous to HIT and HIT hard. with nitrous you have to ride that fine ragged line of too much fuel and not enough air. the more fuel you can put to it (read this as black smoke out of the tail pipe) the harder that the nitrous will hit assuming that you can get the proper mix of nitrous and fuel.

i've only dealt with my 12v and nitrous. you really need to get a pressure gauge in your exhaust manifold and monitor it in comparison of intake manifold boost pressure as nitrous will cause higher cyl pressures therefore increasing the drive pressure and this can lead to premature head gasket and or turbo failure.

i can not stress to people that nitrous isn't something to just play with. it is very harsh on a motor if not used correctly, it is very harsh on the motor when used correctly also so it is a loose-loose, or a win-win situation, i guess it depends on if you are a glass half full or half empty person.....remember that higher timing will have adverse affects on the motor when using nitrous...

nitrous isn't something that you can just tune for in a few minutes. you need to get a full bottle, a good nitrous pressure gauge and get someone to ride with you to monitor smoke output and EGT temps, you need to try a bunch of different combinations of the 2 tuners to try to get the :":perfect:": fuel to nitrous mixture. remember to try to keep the nitrous pressure the same for each test so as not to skew the results. 700 PSI will not kit like 1200 PSI..... you prolly need to make a pull from ~1800rpm in drive (4th in a manual) to redline. DO NOT activate the nitrous until you have at least 10-15 PSI of boost. other than that, good luck, please report back on how it works......
