Turbo With 100hp Injectors
i just joined this sit and it is pretty cool:U: but i all ready have a edge juice with attitude, sstright pipe factory exhaust, BHAF, but my question is what would be the best turbo for a set of 100hp-125hp nozzles. i was thinkin of a phat shaft 62/12 or somthing a long thoses lines. i have done alot of looking around and see the s300 and i think it can supprot about 350-400hp. but i figure that i should be around 350-400hp with the edge and nozzles. i dont tow very much and the truck is used for mainly stoplight racing and some drag racin. the transmission and fuel system will be fix before the injectors and turbo get on but the will be later next year. just doin reaseach and getin some real world answer thanks guys!!:c:

Unless your lookin to crank out some big HP what's wrong with the stock turbo. If you go any bigger then what you have right now your stock tranny will be toast.
Right now your runnin about the same set up as I have with the exception of the Auto/Manual difference and you will see my Dyno numbers below in the sig. I also don't see anything for enhanced fuel supply listed as in aftermarket Lift Pump. You will kill the Injector pump runnin that Edge on the stock system. Welcome aboard, hope to see a lot of ya around here. |
i was running 100 hp injectors. with my edge drag comp. was a little hot only getting 32 psi off my hy-35 . im getting a bd super b,
enjoy. and get that trans ordered |
Yer gonna need tranny work to hold it but a set of 275 injectors and an edge comp got me 375hp and 941 trq................I have a PDR HX35 turbo too
power is easy too get holding it is another story |
Whats your opinion on the 275 Injectors?

Ya Im thinkin about throwing some 275's in my rig....... Everyone seems to want the big injectors but I want a little extra kick and better MPG.
|
Unless your lookin for a competion rig, I don't think you can beat the 275's for anywhere near the price.

I don't have any heat problems with my set up. The stock turbo has served me well. I keep thinkin about a bigger one, but with that comes the bigger lag times also and that thought don't turn me on.

i have a hy and it get crazy hot in a 1/8 mile. i was thinkin that the pdr 35 would be ok but with the phat shaft 62/12 i figure that it would cool a lot better and i could stay under 1500* for at least half the 1/4. anyone have one of these turbo's with i want to know egt's. the other day i pulled a 30ft goose neck with about 40000lbs in it and all i could do was 3x1 and run 70 and that was it. i would like to run the 100hp injectors and not have to worry about egt's, and i dont know if the hx35 would cool good but have a good feelin the 62 would be my best bet but the price is the limiting factor. thanks for the repiles guys:U:

If your runnin 40,000 pounds behind your truck at 70 mph, in one of these trucks I hope I'm never in front of you rollin down the highway.
Hittin 1500 degrees in the quarter mile tells me you got a problem someplace, theres not that big of difference between the HX and Hy turbos I don't think and my truck never goes over 1100 even when I hammer the hell out of it. My personal experiance though haulin trailers is that when I hook up a heavy trailer, I turn the Fueling box off. It's for play, speed and smoke when you want it but deffinately not for pullin. For pullin and low end torque you need the Smarty. Just a few of my thoughts on it all. |
4000 is what i ment, a few to many 0's in there. you make a good point but towing and pulin trailers doesnt happen much sence i am in college, and i am in it more for the racing and longevity. my goal for now is 400hp and i figure that it will get me there and i am mainly lookin for a turbo that will supoort that with out breaking the bank, but thanks for the replys and any more ideas are welcome!!

I can hit 1300+ with my HY and the Comp with stock injectors :su:

The two things that made big differences in my EGT's were the new exhaust and the Megamouth elbow coming off the back of the turbo. Those two things accounted for a few hundred degree differences. I also got some improvement when I reset the APPS. Mine was quite a bit out of whack and it drained a lot of power.

how much boost can you run? the most i can get this hy to get is 21psi:booo: i have had a turnbuckle on the wastegate to build more boost and it toped out at 28psi which is toppin the turbo, but at that point it starts pushin more hot air than cool. and i can find a hx and upgrade to that to help out a little, and do you have the hx35?
|
I stop at 30psi myself, I'm a chicken with stock head gaskets that I really don't wanna change out anytime soon. I have had it up to 35psi a few times and never have topped it out so I don't know where it would stop at. I can hit 25psi in a few seconds and still not even feel like the turbo is spooled.
|
i run 100hp injectors, and with everything in my sig, it takes A LOT to hit 1500 degrees on the pyro. thats with the stock turbo.
steeldragon, i sent you a pm about my injectors. ---AutoMerged DoublePost---

now that im ready for some 150+hp injectors and big single, the head and head gasket is an area of concern. |
With my setup, I get about the same heat as with the small turbo and 275's. Just takes me a little longer to get there now, but not much.
the 275's have 5 holes, the DDP 95 HP injectors have 8 holes. Coon, what kind of injectors do you have? |
ddp 3's
|
Roger.
I can hit 38 psi in about 1 second with that Comp. |
I have had the 62/12 as a single, running bully dog crazy larry stacked with van aaken, mad 432 at rear wheels, but when pulling it would still run hot pulling a long grade it would hit 1400* no problem even with the fuel cut off. a good exhaust, intercooler, and then a turbo helps drop temps. I am running it compounded with HTB3 5 in exhaust, Bd intercooler and pulling heavy still hit high temps with the tst box on.
|
I made 507 and 1094 on a 62/12 so they will make great power but it can get hot quick if you let it. with the same sig as i have now except Rv 275's and the stock HY I made 377 and 810
