High Idle for Cummins
 

Hey Guys, Im new to the sight. But a Quick Question, I seen on other forums that a guy with the username hbower had connections with a company that makes a manual High Idle for the 2nd gen Cummins. I know about The reflash for the ECM but this truck is used for Rescue operations......The one Ive heard about that he can get is easy install and easy Use, simply install, accelerate above 1200 rpm and activate the high Idle. Does anyone know where I can find this? Thanks alot!

Ya I have one of harold's high idles solenoids and they work great. It's adjustable to set the idle at whatever RPM's you want the truck to run at and works with the flip of a switch. Best of all it takes less then an hour to install even for a dummy like me.

i have one on my rig and have had them on nearly all of my cummins and they work great.

Thanks alot guy this helps me out alot.....We've been looking for something like this to put on our Rescue truck for sometime now, and until today have been unsuccessful...but with ya'lls help winching and running the Strobes/lightbar wont be a problem any more! thanks alot :rocking:

alright, so theres a manual high idle switch, i talked to one of the dealers here the other day and asked about the flashing the computer for the high idle, the guys there couldnt come up with anything, so what is it they do, or whats it called, if there is anything, i dont know.

many perameters must be met before the high idle reflash will operate. air temp, coolant temp etc etc. it also idles on 3 cyl.

i would just do the high idle device from harold and be done with it. run it at the rpm you desire [usually 1200 rpm] WHEN you desire. keep the engine at proper temp by high idling before the temp drops down to whatever temp the computor dictates it must be at to enable the computor controled hi idle to work.
