so about how much would one of these set ups run me?

If you find someone with a Smarty they van load it on your truck and when its removed the high idle and 3 cylinder idle will stay with your truck.

If you go the dealer flash route for the high idle there is also some risk involved there to be aware of. It only happens a small percentage of the time and even Chrysler and Cummins can't explain why. Once in a while when they do this high idle re-flash fuel mileage on the truck will go to crap forever more after that and it can't be undone once you do it. I had it done to my truck and all came out well but you take the chance.

If your Dodge dealer looks through there book of available computer re-flashes it is listed in there, most of em just don't know enough about Diesels to know what your talkin about without doin the bookwork first.

I have both the switch and the flash on my truck and i will tell you that the switch is much nicer because i can make it happen as i want it and not only when the truck computer says for it to run. Lot a mornings I flip the switch and drive around time with the idle turned up so that it idles high at stop lights also while it's stayin warm. When I'm runnin into a store I just kick the switch on and leave the truck run. So the switch definitely has it's advantages. But the switch won't give you the three cylinder shuffle and that's also nice on those really cold mornings. But here in Illinois as cold as it get's it only get's cold enough on a few mornings each year for that to even kick in.
