Will this trans work?

I have an 01 2500 automatic 4x4. I added an airdog 150, 4" straight pipe, BHAF.
My question is If I get my Edge Comp and more guages that I need what power should I be making. Its not very clear to me what my HP is now so I cant add the estimated power from the comp. I know my trans will take a dump but I'm looking for one now that I can build on the side to swap in when the time comes.

My question is what power would I be making so I know how to build the trans, and also will a trans out of a 97 12v duelly work in my 01, its an auto also.

The only towing I do is a little jetski and in the bed some scrap sometimes I'm mainly building the truck for sport and the strip.
Thanks!

any tranny will work with a little modification

Build it big and do it once, cause once you add a little bit of power you always want more and better to have a built enough transmission from the get go then to not have enough when you want to go bigger

Would you happen to know how much modification it will need?
Its not a problem really but I wanted to build it and swap it in and if its going to be a pain to put in I may reconsider because I dont wanna have my truck down for a while.
Do you have an estimate on HP and Torque I'll be making so I know what I'll need trans wise?
Thanks for the help, this site is great

At a bare minimum, you will need a valve body and a performance torque converter (preferrably billet and a triple disk).

It all depends on how much hp you are striving for. I know a couple of guys that have over $10k (yes, 10+K) in their TRANSMISSIONS.

10k is alot! I knew i needed the converter and valve body but wasnt sure bout the input shaft and what not. I'm not really shooting for a particular HP and Torque number, I just want to do the comp and see what happens after that and what I need for reliability. I dont even know how much power I'll be making after the comp but I'll probably be happy with it. :w2:

Thats where you are making your first mistake.

I suggest you think long and hard about what you want to do with the truck and how much hp youll eventually want. Its more money upfront but will save you lots of $$ in the end.

If youre not in a hurry....spend some time reading sites, thinking, and talking to different people.

Yea I'm patient, the only thing I want too hurry is the comp and the rest of my guages but I think everyone who's looking for power is anxous for there tuners.
Thats good advice Dr. Evil, I have to find out how much power I'll have after the comp to decide my final goals though. Would like to be streetable and not tow and I will probably pick up that trans if I get all my info together.

Building your trans is easy enough. There's only a few special hard parts needed and of course a full rebuild kit, seals, ect. I would use a quality single disc Billet converter and a matching VB.

Of course you will most likely want to address the flexplate and input shafts if you are going to run the power up. The flexplate I do on EVERY trans. Even stock power. Lots of torn out ones at the shop.

Yea I'm probably going to tear the trans down if it'll work and slowly do as much as possible till I need it. Any idea on how much power after the comp I'll have?
I want to go for a little more power after that eventually since a tuner is simple so I'll have to build the trans for more power than I have to give me room for more down the road.
