Fuel Box - suggestions
i will be buying a box soon and i am leaning dowards the juice w/ attitude but would like some input from y'all, also should i get isspro gauges while im at it. my truck is used as a daily driver but i also tow a 28' flat bed with 6 to 8 gang boxes from job to job, thanks boys and girls.:pca1: oh ya what about injectors?

The juice with attitude is great unit. One of my favorite things is it monitors fuel pressure. I would just go with the Juice w/attitude and skip the isspro gauges.
They are currently on sale, let me know if i can help. Tyler MPF |

As to be a help on the comp it is a timing box only with pump wire dangled and boost fools even when switched off for stock timing. With pump wire connected it is capable of 120 extra horsepower with levels 2 -5 to control added extra fuel (1 is timing only) and 5 sublevels to control the curve or aggressiveness. The Drag or Hot option adds a feature that when on level 5 sublevel 5 the box fuels out to 3400 where the stock curve starts to defuel at 2800 to prevent overrun. Those in the know insist that the best numbers are made at the track on 5x5 of course but that on the dyno the best numbers are made on 5x4, not sure why. Hope this helps. I have run the drag comp for many years now but never had any experience with the juice. It was only available for CR trucks till recently. |
How hard is it to tap into the fuel wire so you can run higher settings?
I hear alot about not tappng into it but I figured since I wanna get the comp I might as well. |
not hard just use a good posi lock or something like that. I use a stealth top from bluechip diesel its a plastic top to the pump with a stud in the right place and its pointed u just tighten it through the top and it touches a certan part of the board for the fuel signal
|
The Juice and Comp have basically the same fueling parameters. The primary differences are the built in gauges, the defuel abilities, turbo timer, alarms, tire height change and a few other minor features.
Usually, guys go for gauges with the Comp an opt out with the Juice. I have both of course. As far as injectors, you have lots of choices. Some good, some not. But we have all this stuff on hand and move through tons of parts. In fact, we supply many in the aftermarket. So if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask! Dave |
I have a question on the comp.
I just installed it and was told if I dont tap into the IP level 4 and 5 will be like 3. My directions I got with the comp were very unclear on what wire to tap. I seem to smoke more on level 5 than 3 but cant tell for sure if I tapped the right wire for the IP. Does anyone have a more clear explanation or picture of the right wire? Thanks |
THe wire in ? on the injection pump is the one closes to the motor side. If you are standing in front of the truck facing it , it is on your left side of the injection pump.I would also solder it instead of using the tap they gave you in the kit.Mine has been on the truck since 2002 solder wire.Sorry dont have a pic.:ph:

Solder it or use a Posi Tap
|
Does anyone have a pic?
they both looked like black wires and there were 2 together so I tapped the left one like mentioned. Thanks! Does anyone have any experiance with the stealth cover? |

I just installed a stealth cover when I replaced my IP about a month ago... super clean look, and it should solve the corrosion issues you'd run into with a t-tap or a posi-tap or similar. The stealth cover could also help if you ever need warranty stuff on your IP, since it is a lot harder to trace once removed than a tapped wire. |
Ok thanks, I followed the wires from the center of the fuel lines, moved down the wire wrap and tapped the left one. I'm thinking about soldering the wires or getting the stealth cover eventhough I dont have to worry about warrantee stuff.
I love th Comp though, its great. Been runnin around on 5x5 and lovin it! |
How much does your Edge on 5x5 smoke with an Airdog 150 also?
Not saying I got my Edge for pure smoke I just see tons of video's online of people saying their running my setup and they seem to smoke alot more than I do. This is the reason why I am nervous about my Edge install and the IP tap. I see a power gain but I thought it'll be alot more "snappy" low end wise on 5x5 and smke more, I'm probably wrong and I'm going to do a better tap on the IP wire tommorrow but can someone chime in with there 2 cents? Thanks! |
My old 01 Cummins with just the comp would puff some smoke on 5X5 but nothing like my Adrenaline.
|
Thanks for the info Luke. I was in a huge debate with myself over getting the Edge Comp or the Addrenalin. I'm just glad I have something.
When you had the Edge what setting did you keep it on when cruising around town? |
5X5 lol
best economy seemed to be 4X3 I belive |
Ok I'll be running that than. I'll only use 5x5 for playing around
Thanks |
even though one person had luck with a setting for fuel economy doesnt mean your truck will perform the same way, it may work but fool around with it for a while...
my brothers 02 smoked a little bit when he put his edge juice on it...i figured it would smoke more too...once he got injectors is when it really starting rolling the coal and slipping the tranny which is gonna be take care of in the coming weeks with Goerend special:choochoo: |
Drop in some Fireball 40's and it will smoke a bit more and give ya a few more MPG.
|
I was looking into 40hp injectors for the next performance mod. Not for smoke but to have a little extra power.
If I do that I have to drive safe for a while till I get my trans taken care of. |
I got the steath cover from a member of TDR long time ago so not sure what it costs from bluechip but it works good. I been tapped since 06 and never gave any trouble yet. Be sure to get a tamper proof torx 15 I believe. Fishing guide can back me up or correct me. on is it, 01 or newer VPs the older ones use the regular torx found in any toolset.
seems like BD offers a stealth cover as well... |

seems like BD offers a stealth cover as well... In the shop we now solder all the pump wires. It eliminates the possibility of cracking a board or losing a connection, ect. But it is still an effective attachment if you keep an eye on it! Dave ---AutoMerged DoublePost---

With my FireBallPro 150s, I got an honest 24mpg and made over 550HP with them. I got something bigger in there now, but a great stick! Dave An adrenaline will be next w pulse but might try some diffrent sticks I hear the FBs are cheap, tell me about them Dave im all ears. Where do you ground the fuel boxes? I am just using a fuel filter bracket bolt going into the head I scuffed the threads good and the bolthead as well as the connector eye I wonder if this may be a problem. |
I grounded mine on the ground strap on the grid heater.
I think I may have to solder my wire, with my set-up for some reason I smoke thicker and more at 3x5 than 5x5 on my comp? Is that normal or do you think I have more boost at the higher numbers so its kinda killing the smoke? I dont care about the smoke really, I just want everything to be normal and ok. |

WOW you jumped the fence? I figured you were a die hard Don M man. I only made 432 on the rollers at smokem if ya got em in blowing rock,NC. It was my first time and I had just gotten my sticks back from don m. I sent them to be confirmed to be true 4s and to be cleaned/rematched and I have a few fuel leaks at the lines at WOT and it was 93 F or so and my pump is kinda worn. Lotsa grey smoke insteda black.

I have been running the FireBallPro stuff for some time. I have worked with the guy that makes them, so I have a good understanding of what goes into them. Basically, they are EDMd close to the final hole size and then they get a very fine honing or micropolish just to be sure they are clean. Been great for smoke and EGTs and the power is still there. I am not knocking Don's stuff at all. He builds a great product, but for some reason I have fallen out of favor with him. I am guessing that has more to do with keeping his other dealers happy as he would not sell to me when I was with Diesel Distributors. Just the little politics of diesel performance. I'll bet Vulcan would like to carry his line, but that's not up to me. I was probably Don's biggest supporter and even recommended his product even when I could not get it. But now I have one that I feel is just as good. I have been very happy with these sticks. I always ground fuel boxes directly at the battery. Using the engine can be hit an miss as you have aluminum, painted, or poorly grounded surfaces. Usually it works, sometimes you give up a good connection due to the above factors. Dave |
