Gauge shopping

When looking for a set of gauges for my 1996 3500 12V should I be looking for an EGT gauge with 1500 or 2400 degree calibration? How about the boost and tranny gauges? It seems like the items available from Glow Shift may be the way to go and they have all different kinds. It's just a little confusing. Any help is appreciated!:rocking:
By the way does anyone else here like the thought of monitoring the oil and fuel pressure in these old 12V engines?

yes both fuel an oil. but i asked the same Q about guages. stay away from cheap gauges. for a lil more you can get the auto meter ones and there pod fits a hole lot better.

does that mean that the Glo Shift gauges kinda suck?

ALL YOU NEED IS A 1500 PYROMETER,IF YOU GET AUTO METER(WHICH I HAVE)IT GOES TO 1600.THERE IS NOT VERY MUCH DIFFERENCE IN PRICE,DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET THE AUTO METER.

I would get a 2000 degree autometer. Buy once buy right. My ISSPRO 1500 hates me cause it gets pegged at 1500 a lot.

If you have an auto Get pyro, 60 psi boost and trans temp for a 5 speed skip the trans and get somthing else or just two and stay on the cheap. As for FP it can help troubleshoot problems but isnt needed.

YES BUT 1500 IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW,IF IT PEGGS THAT YOU BETTER BE LETTIN OFF REAL QUICK.GO WITH A 2000 IF YOU WANT BUT IF IT GOES OVER 1500 YOU'RE IN SERIOUS DANGER OT A MELT DOWN!!

iv made 1700 degrees a few times everything has been ok sofar and thats for a very short period of time

I'm with everyone on the autometers. Both my trucks have the 2k pyrometer 100psi boost and a tranny temp and not one problem with any of them.

you can hold a cummins at 1250 all day long and 1500 is nothing ive pegged my 1600 dergee guage alot and when i pulled the motor the pistons showed now signs whatsoever of getting to hot

Not everyone likes Autometers on a diesel.

Isspro and DiPrico have very nice guages.
