What kind of numbers would I be runnin with the juice, some 150hp fireball pro injectors, super phat shaft 64 turbo, 4 inch exhaust, and a cold air intake?:humm:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-14-2009 09:33 PM

Around 500hp.... if you do the 64/71/14 you might step it up to some 200hp Fireball's

redneck_cummins 06-14-2009 09:43 PM

Would the super 62 be more suitibal for this set up Luke? Oh what kind of power you reckon Id have some with the super 64 with the 200 horse injectors?

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-14-2009 09:48 PM

You would probably be around 550hp or so depending on the shape of your VP44. The 64 will be fine with the 150's.

redneck_cummins 06-14-2009 09:58 PM

Would the truck still be suitible for a daily driver with either of these setups and whats the most hp that these motors can handle, I guess what Im asking whats to much for these motors.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-14-2009 10:41 PM

The Cummins is a very strong built motor. As long as you have the mods to support the HP #'s then you will be fine. Theres guys making 1000hp+ with the Cummins when properly built. There is a point at which you can make too much HP for a daily driver.

There are a few guys in the 1000hp range with stock bottom ends. Addressing issues with keeping headgaskets comes first. And if you stick with a VP44 you shouldn't be getting into bottom end damaging territory.

So do you think 500-550hp would be alittle to much for a daily driver Luke? And if so what would be the max hp I would be able to make and keep my truck as a daily driver.

Woligator 06-15-2009 09:44 PM

he didnt said that red neck, just to have realistic targets....500 for daily driver is quite fun
but ull have to invest alot into your tranny and in your head to keep everything together

Box all the way down I am at 500HP. And it drives like a dream.

I am running some FireBallPro 200 specials. These are just tweaked for testing purposes. I am running twins, so if you are going to go that route in the future, carefully consider the charger you select now.

I tow 16-18k#, DD & sledpull my rig. I just stepped up from 62/71/14 to Super B special. The special spools 50rpm slower, but cools around 300-400* better.

redneck_cummins 06-16-2009 04:51 PM

If I decide to go this route what other modifications will I have to have done? DD clutch, headstuds, orings, and what else. Also Dave what turbo do you think I should run right now if I do decide to go to twins later on? Thanks for the help and info guys:5:

It depends on gearing, elevation, use of the truck, ect, ect.

But for most, a 62/65-13ss or 14 is the right choice. Good spool and will support well over 600HP with a S400.

62/71/14 would be my choice if you want a twin set later. A 62/65/14 wouldn't be bad either, but the 71 series will definately be better.

Ok guys I think Ive made my mind up on my future plans, Im going to go with 150 horse injectors, super phat shaft 62 turbo, and 5 inch exhaust. So my next question is what type of mods would I have to have both studs and o-rings or would I be okay with just studs, and would I have to upgrade the valve springs or anything else on the head or would the studs and/or o-ring be all that Id have to have done:humm:. I just want to make shure I get everything right the first time around.

Thanks for all the help:5:
