This is a fairly easy thing to do but not really smart unless you use it smart. you will need about 10 feet of 16-18 gauge wire, a two prong toggle switch , and a sure splice wire conector. OK here goes on the ps fire wall you will see a computer with three plugs. find the center plug then locate the orange wire with a black stripe this is the wire you will be splicing into DO NOT CUT IT just splice into it. then run the wire from it into the cab in a very operatable area. put the switch in this area where you can use it easily then run another wire from the switch to ground and you are ready to go. remember not to use it below around thirty untill you figure it out. the truck will upshift with the switch on but will not down shift. should work after truck shifts to second gear. THIS MOD IS NOT ADVISED do not abuse this mod or you will tear up your torq converter:argh:

well i got it done today. it works great. i didnt think it would be something that simple. i really appreciate the help. and im not going to abuse it. i cant afford to put any more money into the tranny right now. but when the time comes. if i were to put in a fancy high output TC does the switch still work with that or what happens then, just wondering for down the road. :U:

How do you work the switch? I understand the install but sice its cheap and easy I was thinking about doing it just to have another bomb for now.
My trans is stock so should I just say no? I dont wanna abuse it just every once in a while show off a bomb.
Thanks

i havent had any problems with mine, you just flip it on after you get up to about 35. it locks the TC and will let ya shift up, but not down, its pretty damn convienient in my opinion.

How often do you use it and is there any bad things that can happen?
I wanna try it for the MPG and just to have since its cheap.
Probably will do it.
Did you throw any codes?
Thanks!!

so how did you hook yours up? how riggle21 said or how the diagram showed? in the diagram it tells you to run a jumper wire in the main computer box...did u do that? and does the tc switch work well? im gonna be hauling a 10,000 lbs trailer from texas to illinois on thursday and may need this nifty switch. thanks :5:

the jumper wire keeps it from throwing a code

psy_6att_6ica_6 07-09-2009 09:55 PM

ya, i ran the jumper,i did everything it said to do. i ran a switch to the dash, one side to the ground, and the other to the black and oragne striped wire i think it was, but anyways, ya get goin about 35 or so and flip it on if your gonna be goin down the highway. in town go between stop lights you might forget its on and youll know pretty quick you left it on. but i have had no problems at all, the tranny is completely stock, i wouldnt suggest using while towing up hill, thats just my opinion, but other than that, its great. :U:
