Wow i have a STUPID newbie question... What is the point of locking up the TC manually? Why doesn't it lock it up so soon from the factory??

So I went to radioshack today and found ones it but it had the diodes with hard wire, would I solder that in?
Or does this pn. have wire?
Kinda confused now...

FYI yes a diode does go a certain way. Putting it in the wrong way shouldnt hurt anything, it just wont work. A diode is like an electrical check valve... Only allows for the flow in one direction. A series of diodes can be used to turn ac into dc :U:

only reason i wanted to be able to do it early is because it gets to the higher gear quicker and thus going faster sooner. haha if that makes sense. im sure someone can explain that a lot better than i did. but yea when i step on it sometimes going through the gears takes longer and doing this would allow me to get to overdrive NOW. cuz man when that torque converter locks up the Adrenaline really starts pushing fuel....!!

well it does work normal with the switch hooked up and in the "off" position. and it did work normal before the install. everything worked as should. ummm i finally pulled the relay today after using the truck while it was in the first 3 times... but today got the same results as before with the relay out and just the bridge wire in there... and i didnt do the resistor

Well, then that seems to point at something wrong with your installation. Did you get the correct wire? If you don't jump the relay or use the resistor the trans will got into limp mode with 2nd or 3rd gear starts.

To answer the other posters question, the locked converter will put the power to the wheels instead of slipping the converter. It appears to have increased my fuel mileage during in town driving. I lock it right away and the tranny stacks the shifts so I am in 3rd gear very early.

I have hooked up many of these lock-up switches the way I stated and never threw any codes! As far as pulling I hauled alot of thing uphill with it including a load of logs that grossed 40,000lbs just don't let it get under around 1500-1700 depending on your gear ratio!!

I don;t mind lockup switches, they create tons of trans business for me!

But they need to be used right, otherwise you will and up killing a stock trans.

As far as forced upshifts, that is going to happen. Light throttle the trans is trying to get into it's highest gear.
