What type of metal ?

farm boy 01-26-2009 01:11 AM

ya it is sweet

SPEAKSUP 01-26-2009 01:30 AM

Them don't look like the best of WELDS :humm:

MotorOilMcCall 01-26-2009 10:33 AM

I was thinking the same thing... I'm sure they'll hold, but if I'm dropping coin on something thats supposed to look good, I want it to look real good. Personally, I could weld that better with a 110v MIG setup. Don't even get me started on how much better a TIG weld would look there...

Whit 01-26-2009 10:35 AM

he musta sold it cuz the sale is over

K50 01-26-2009 10:39 AM

That link I couldn't even open, said it's a web advertisement....is that an actual ebay link or spam?

sstockton 01-26-2009 10:59 AM

I'm with these guys, it looks like something that I could make myself in a about 2hrs and have it look cleaner and cost less. did he even roll beads on that thing to help the clamp hold? It was hard to tell in the pics.

GRI 01-26-2009 11:56 AM

My stick welds look better than some of his. If the welds were a little nicer, it wouldnt be bad. I wonder what the metal is?

tearin_it_up_everywhere 01-26-2009 05:47 PM

There was a guy on here that made some that looked better and he used krylon. I dont know about them. :humm:

connermcpherson 01-26-2009 11:26 PM

that picture looks like s h i t. i dont know this dude at all, i found him and he made me one. the one i was sent was fully tig welded and was grinded clean and powder coated flat black. when i saw that same picture, i thought the same thing, my welds are 100 times better than his. he guaranteed me the work and said if there was any problem, i would get my money back. since than, had none. im just letting ya'll know from a cummins man, he does a damn good job.

MotorOilMcCall 01-27-2009 08:50 AM

:pca1: You smell something Rabbit?

Mr.Krabs 01-27-2009 12:23 PM

I smell something, and it ain't good....could it be we are in the cow pasture?
Or is it the bull pen?

GRI 01-27-2009 12:34 PM

Uncle Bubba 01-27-2009 02:24 PM

Glad I left my boots on when I came in from the barn, I'd hate to be barefoot right now.

who posts a link to a website without looking at it first to make sure it's right? Seems to me like something else is going on.. I would make sure what I was promoting looked good.

SPEAKSUP 01-27-2009 09:17 PM

Well If I was him I would be getting some better Pic's of his Newer Horns.

mikmaze 02-02-2009 06:42 AM

mikmaze 02-06-2009 07:26 AM

3 Attachment(s)
just got home and installed the intake, looks great went in easy, seat o pants can't tell, too much traffic, not enough road. :rocking:

Gixxer_750 02-06-2009 08:12 AM

i wouldnt be getting my hopes up for that seat of the pants feeling...the only thing horns will do is cool you down just a tad, maybe give you a little more boost (assuming you have it j-hooked or elbowed) and really nothing in the neighborhood of power...they have been dynoed many times and have shown no real gains unless they are on rigs pushing lots and lots of air...id save my money and stay get soemthing else (espically with those welds)...they can make a dirty engine bay look pretty though:yeah:

connermcpherson 02-06-2009 10:08 AM

:)

01quadcab 02-06-2009 10:46 AM

I have heard that the 3rd gens benefit from the horns as the stock one is restrictive due to the way the bolts are in the flow area. btw that one looks good

dieselbeef 02-06-2009 12:43 PM

i wouldnt pay 50 bucks for a piece of muffler tubing mig welded together..thats piss poor welding and damn sure aint no 155 bucks worth. ill make ya some outta ss tig welded and polished for 150 bucks..are you kiddin me...

i blow snot rockets that look better than them welds

mikmaze 02-06-2009 04:12 PM

by all means folks, start weldin and put them in the classifieds, basement enterprise section. I don't have a shop, nor the layout, nor the time to fisk something like that together, thats why I paid to have it done for me, I can handle the install, and for me it makes a lot more sense than payin big bux for some big cast beast that has a logo cast into the side of it. :madd:

i'll take one for a 12v

Mr.Krabs 02-06-2009 08:58 PM

My bad, still seen better welding,if that's tig welded he needs more practice.

sstockton 02-07-2009 06:56 PM

Any drop in EGT's? Or increase in throttle response? I've talked to a couple people running the CFM intakes, on 12v's and common rails, and they said that both throttle response and EGT's were helped by adding one. I've been meaning to build one as I think it could be done in an evening, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Any input on what you think about it would be great.

connermcpherson 02-07-2009 07:07 PM

my egts went down about 50 degrees and i spool noticeably faster. i really like it. pushing 42 pounds on this intake with a shot of nitrous and its sweet, no problems. i really like this intake. nice product.

mikmaze 02-07-2009 07:08 PM

tough to say as only 4 days earlier I changed from revo sw 7 to tnt sw7 and now its tough to look at the egts. kinda important to watch if the front end is still where I left it pointed...... definately did not loose anything. Feals storng, sounds good and looks good. enough for me. I gotta see if my buddy still has his airflow tester setup for back pack blowers, simple tube with a ball in it, ya put the blower at the inlet and based on flow the ball goes so high, would like to give three runs without a horn, then three stock, and three with this new one and see if there is any difference. simple enough to test.

connermcpherson 02-07-2009 07:14 PM

dustin byrd is a good guy (the guy who makes these) and i was glad to do business with him, and would be even happier to get him more business.

byrd126 02-07-2009 09:35 PM

Hey guys, This is Dustin Byrd. You can talk trash all day long. Thats fine with me. That why we have these forums right???? I agree, the welds in the pics are not the greatest in the world, but they are just demo intakes. All customer intakes are welded to perfection. I would not sell anything that looks like crap....I wouldnt want it in my engine compartment if it looked like crap. I will post some pics for you guys that think the welds are horrible, and show you the customer product. And good luck getting the price vs. performance ratio out of a $400 ats intake horn. Just my opinion and Im just helping normal everyday people that dont have the money to spend on an ats intake hence the $160.

mikmaze 02-07-2009 09:49 PM

Hey Dustin. welcome to the board, not all of us talkin trash, just a few moaners, theres a few in every bunch. horn is workin great. all who have seen it like it, and not just on this board. thanks and man you are fast on making, shipping and getting back via email with follow up and anyquestions on what we want. A1 in my book.

byrd126 02-07-2009 09:56 PM

Good luck getting ats, cfm, banks or any of thos companies to do this for you.

connermcpherson 02-08-2009 06:39 PM

hey buddy!!! told you id get you one here! NICE TO SEE YA!

dieselbeef 02-09-2009 09:27 AM

thats cool dustin..i shouldnt be bashing just cuz yer doin it and i aint but...if yer puttin stuff out there alotta guys dont know the diff and think thats thats just welding. so long as yer not passin it off as final tig welded werk thats fine. wasnt meanin to bash even tho it came out that way..just pointin out that the welding left a bit to be desired and that pepole should expect more for thier money....my apologies if i offended ya but there is ALOTTA shoddy welding being done out there and passed off as certified ..blah..blah...

GRI 02-09-2009 09:46 AM

Byrd126,
I dont think anyone was really bashing your stuff. Just the pictures of your welds. Now If I was trying to sell these I would definitly not have pictures with poor welds on my adds or auctions. It gives the impression that is what you're going to get if you buy.

I was one of them talking trash, the welds in the picture looked like shit, glad that the actual product turned out not to suck,I agree with GRI,just post up pictures of nicer welds,I know it's hard to get a good picture, but worth the effort.
