Smoke Switch?
anyone heard of this? i wanting to do it to a buddy 2001 cummins. can someone shine some light on this for me?
and yes, fuel is 4.43 here but geez wat fun is a truck that dont smoke a little? |
You just run a shut off to the MAP Sensor so that you can turn it on and aff if this is what your refferrring to. If his truck is an Automatic it will probably throw a few codes when you do it.
um...unless he has a fueling box...it won't do too awful much. If he has something like an edge comp...works like a charm...just hope he has something to clear the codes.
theres no fueling box or chip of anykind, he has a scanner to clear the codes just in case. the map sensor is on the side of the block on a cummins correct?
Your a different year then mine so maybe they changed somethin but on mine it's on the front of the block behind the radiator. Down towards the drivers side if I remember right. Before you start cuttin and hackin just unplug it first to see if it gives you the results you want.
it will work a little bit without a chip but nothing like with a big box
It's really meant for a Edge Comp box. That's where the most gain's are seen. I did it on my truck when it was stock and i didn't notice a difference at all. It came up with codes right off the bat. Don't do it unless you have a Edge Comp or EZ.
i used to have it unplugged with my truck.....last time i did it the truck acted up badly and started getting surging and getting dead pedal. I wouldnt recommend it after seeing what it did to my truck! I think it messed up my VP

Zach and others, likely. Smoking the truck is ok with advanced timing and fuel but unplugging the MAP is not the way to do it. Besides at $5+ a gallon why do you want to waste the fuel?
if ya want smoke so bad, do it safely and with a smarty and huge injectors or something.....
