Perma-Cool 12318 - Perma-Cool Maxi-Cool Six Pass Fluid Coolers - summitracing.com

thats the one I got and will be putting on this week some time after getting some pics and ideas from Benjamin. I went with the permacool cuz of the size and the fan cfm of 1250.

But your lines from your stock cooler is 1/2 and the cooler you got was only 3/8 is there a reason for that?

I spoke with dave on this topic a few minutes ago. And he stated that the stock coolers are pretty forgiving and take the check ball out of the rear cooler line and you will see 3-4 quarts of fluid in 30 secs or less. And then flush the system with some type of transmission flush. And just install the transmission and go.

the check ball is in the heat exchanger. the cooler is 3/8 thread size you can put 1/2" barbed fittings on it which is what i have to do this with.

did you remove the check ball completely? i left mine in there. i thought it was the antidrainback thingy....

I don't use the heat exchanger now so it's gone. All you have to do for the drain back is let the truck warm up and build pressure or if your in a hurry put it in neutral it will build pressure faster. my trans runs at 130 all day long now

Dave stated to take it out. So i am guessing yes.

Benjamin 05-16-2008 01:48 AM

hmmmm i might need to look into this..... mine is still in there.....

I have not seen anything on how to get rid of it yet but you can just bypass it as you already have 2 coolers on and your trans will run cooler as it will not have the heat of the coolant around it.

I took the anti-drain back out of the fitting that screws into the heat exchanger on the rear cooler line. And installed my new cooler lines and transmission yesterday. This is by far the best mod i have done to the truck.:choochoo:
