Isspro Guages
Installed a set of Isspro guages and A pillar in my 97 2500 5.9 and am very happy with them except that this weekend after driving about 150mi or so the fuel press guage started making a clicking sound much like a collapsed lifter and then the guage would not read more than 10psi and is very slow comming up from 0psi from start now any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks

How and where is the FP guage plumbed in? Are you useing a needle valve, snubber, or grease gun hose to dampen the pulses from the P-7100?
|
Isspro Guages
I ran the fuel side of the guage to the top of the fuel filter housing to the isolater- then filled the line with antifreeze to the guage side so there wasn't any snubbers or anything like that with the kit.
|
Probably need a Snubber :pm:

The problem is the isolator...ditch it.
Run fuel to the guage temporarily (or another test guage) and you will see what I mean. You should have a needle vlave in there to dampen the pressure spikes. and I would take the pressure off the Fuel pump inlet banjo bolt (you will have to tap it 1/8" NPT). I will try to find a pic for you. |
It might be the isolator but not as you may be advised it is. Check the connections and ensure that it has fluid in it - the high pressures from the P Pump will quickly bleed this little thing dry and it will not work as intended.

Sorry, you are correct Wyatt - I should have said that the problem LIKELY is the isolator.

Isspro Guages
Thanks for the help, but could you please explain what the snubber is and where I might get one and how I would install it
Also do you think the guage is still ok or will I have to replace it as well-- I have only put about 300mi or so on it |
A pressure snubber smoothes out the pressure spikes that are caused by the injector pump.
You can get it here: (sorry theres no pic): http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...Snubber/Detail or get a needle valve: http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ser...h-8-NPT/Detail Both do essentially the same thing. I suspect the problem still lies with your isolator. Gauge might be good or bad....if you are concerned, send it back to Isspro. I think they will deny warranty if you run fuel into the guage. Which guage is it BTW? |
Yup, no isolator = no warranty.
