porting a 12v

ok since i finished my ford cummins project ive had some egt issues and exhuast restriction mainly because of the restrictive industrial manifold i had to use. im going back to a factory manifold and a 1st gen 4" downpipe to make this work i want to go ahead and port my manifold and turbo. also the head depending the dificulty. my plan is to use a dremal and a few grinders any tips

put a rag or something down in the head and make sure the cylinder you are porting on is a tdc, im probally going to do this as well while my motor is tore down, there was a really good post on this on another site with good pics and stuff i think it was competition diesel or something

dont port the head with it still on the truck, your asking for metal shavings in the motor if you do.

as for the manifold port match it to an exhaust gasket and smooth out the insides. for the turbine housing remove it from the turbo before porting also. make it a little bigger than the gasket and smooth it as far back as you can.

Make sure to clean everything out good before reinstalling it.

Go slow, if it starts not going right put the dremel tool down go do something else and come back to it.

kind of an experience thing. if it doesn't look right to you its always good to walk away for a minute or two and then come back with "fresh eyes" and try again. basicly make it look smooth and even no wierd waves or dimples in it just nice and smooth

what type of dremel are you using? im picking at porting my manifold little by little since im waiting on main bearing for my motor and im using a air dremel with a high speed cutting bit but i can find new bits anywhere in town, i looked at lows and home depot and they dont have shit, found some high speed cutters at sears but i worn that one out fast, cant find any flap wheels to fit the 1/4" chuck, any ideas???
