overflow valve

i know this needs to be replaced every so often as it is a weak point of the pump. question is have any of you tried the tork tek adjustable overflow valve? thanks

12vcummins96 12-20-2010 09:47 PM

ive heard good things

94 12valve 12-20-2010 09:48 PM

Talk to Jake I think he had one, not sure which tho. Personally I would like to know more about the non adjustable ones.

Red_Rattler 12-20-2010 10:37 PM

Mines the adjustable one and it def works as advertised! Nice product for sure.

lodal cummins 12-20-2010 10:39 PM

ok thanks alot nice stocking stuffer for myself!!!!!

92 BUCKBOARD 12-21-2010 08:37 AM

Thought you had an air dogg? site says not to use the adjustable ones with a fass or an air dogg.

92 BUCKBOARD 12-21-2010 12:02 PM

i have an airdog on my truck. mine is the 060. Wifes truck has adjustable one with stock fuel system.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I run about 42 psi at idle. Drops to 25-30 psi at WOT.:tu:

Red_Rattler 12-21-2010 12:49 PM

Guess I shoulda been more specific sorry guys... Mines an adjustable HP version since I recieved one for testing and R&D for him and had to try out different jet sizes to get the HP 40-70 jet sizes. :tu:

lodal cummins 12-21-2010 02:57 PM

so you can only use the 020 with stock fuel system right? the 040 or 060 is for systems with a fass or airdog.

Red_Rattler 12-21-2010 07:40 PM

Correct

94 12valve 12-21-2010 09:00 PM

what kind of fuel pressure can you run with these? also when the valve closes does the fuel heat up?

Turbolvr 12-25-2010 12:50 PM

If the valve is closed the fuel is being used. The valve only bypasses extra fuel and the Ppump is OIL cooled/lubed. :tu:

The fass and airdogs have an internal bypass too.

Red_Rattler 12-25-2010 03:16 PM

The smallest jet I tested yielded 70psi with my AirDog set at the factory 25psi...

The p pump is lubed by both fuel and oil

i just ordered the 060, gonna try it out. i really need to stop sittin in front of my computer with my credit card.....

92typhoon937 01-02-2011 03:10 PM

heh

lodal cummins 01-02-2011 07:38 PM

i just stretched the old spring about a 1/8 inch and then inserted a regular bic pen spring in the center of stock spring. really seems to fuel alot harder as more fuel is going to the injectors now rather then back to the tank!!!!

cummins95 01-02-2011 08:42 PM

u really noticed a big difference? im anxious to put er in then

lodal cummins 01-02-2011 09:34 PM

i did notice a big difference i do not have a fuel pressure gauge yet so i do not know what psi i'm at. but a guy who did this before got a xtra 37 hp on the dyno by doing this little trick. i'm happy with the results!!!

cummins95 01-02-2011 09:49 PM

freakin sweet. hopefully my trans will be back together by the time it gets here so i can do before n after n see what the difference is, should only be about a 10 min install right?

lodal cummins 01-02-2011 10:46 PM

yes very straight forward. was going to get the tork tex but like the free mod instead!!!!!

cummins95 01-03-2011 07:26 PM

there is definitely something wrong with me... first i bought the OFV just for S&G, n now a turbo. i cant stop!!!:scare2:

94 12valve 01-03-2011 07:38 PM

I just went with the 070 tork tek ... we shall see how it does.

you havent had any problems by doing that have you? after reading it i was thinking about doing it, but how did you go about stretching the spring, also any regular bic pen spring will work?

cummins95 01-03-2011 08:03 PM

whats the point in makin money if ya aint gonna spend it??? haha

yes a regular pen spring will work just fine

lodal cummins 01-04-2011 05:01 PM

i will go with the tork tex 070 as well after i get a air dog or fass. let use know the results of the 070 dave!!!!

will do current fuel press with stock unmodded OFV is 44psi, at WOT I can't tell you an exact number ( very hard to look goin down the track) but I know it was below 38psi.

I'm gonna try and hit the dyno in march so I'll have some good WOT numbers for ya then.

lodal cummins 01-04-2011 07:27 PM

what is max psi these pumps can handle before seals start a blowin?

94 12valve 01-04-2011 07:32 PM

the p pump? ... a good amount more than the air dogg will put out. I have heard of over 80psi in competition trucks, for a street truck 50-60 max no real point in goin higher than that with a 12mm pump

94 12valve 01-06-2011 03:33 PM

just installed the new overflow, psi at idle is the same ( which it should be), and I have high hopes for a wot run. Its a very simple design, that I wish I had thought of and I really think it will help.

cummins95 01-06-2011 05:27 PM

i just put mine in too, wont be able to test it out til i get the trans fixed. but i would like to say thanks to tork tek n especially Rob. when i opened the envelope n looked at the reciept, there is a hand written note. "Hi Logan, I hope you are having a great new year. Thanks for the order" I just think that says alot about a business :tu:

vectorboy_99 03-29-2011 01:56 PM

Help!! I have a 24v and changed the VP44 pump. The reason I say this is, my uncle and I are changing the overflow valve in his 95. We ordered a overflow valve, got it and it looked exactly like the one on my VP44 not at all like the one on his P7100. Is the replacements different? or are they suppose to look the same?

Any help is appreciated.

Jim

Turbolvr 03-29-2011 02:36 PM

They may LOOK exactly the same. The p7100 has a 35psi bypass spring and the VP has a 20psi bypass. some of the older 12v had a screw-in cap on the head where the VPs all had a ball bearing pressed in the top. My new P7100 bypass has a ball bearing top.

vectorboy_99 03-29-2011 03:06 PM

well that didnt seem to work, so maybe it's the lift pump? Just has less power, sounded like the overflow valve, but we pinched the line like the manual says, and no difference, so we are now thinking lift pump.

Tbarbee1 03-31-2011 04:17 PM

Whats cost on the upgraded OFV? :pca1:

cumminspwr11 04-07-2011 12:04 AM

the ofvs on the 24v are calibrated to each pump and i would like to know what these cost as well?

madmikeismad 04-07-2011 03:50 AM

I'm a big fan of the pen spring. Costs 10 cents :D

dipapadakis 04-20-2011 01:12 PM

im a big fan of the pen modd too although it didnt even cost me 10 cents i stole the pen :w2:
