Where to start?

Alright i guys, i got my first cummins last weekend. Im ready to start upgradeing it. where should i start? I was thinking air intake?

cummins95 08-10-2010 06:25 PM

intake, exhaust, fuel plate. lots of easy power from these trucks. use the search n check out the sticky's. there is a ton of info on here for ya. is ur truck standard or auto?

jrad989 08-10-2010 07:51 PM

gauges, tranny, head studs. then go crazy.

big willy 08-10-2010 08:00 PM

how hard are head studs to do?

and x2 on what jarad said

brindle_bull 08-10-2010 08:32 PM

if its an auto BUILD IT, if its a standard get a clutch, and then go from there. no fun to have a truck if it wont move.

intake and exhaust are easy places to start, after that gauges would be next ... also make sure you have the KDP taken care of

not hard at all, just takes time. you will need to bottom tap each hole and have your rocker pedistals machined for them to work.

WaitinOnaCummins 08-11-2010 05:54 PM

i think im going to order some 75hp injectors some time in the next two weeks

blackout94 08-11-2010 07:37 PM

bigger injectors should come after that tranny i would do the tranny and then get 370s or 140s 75hp injectors arent much maybe 350hp out of them

lodal cummins 08-11-2010 07:57 PM

intake, exhaust, move your stock plate and afc housing forward, learn how to tune your afc. that is it until you get some tranny up grades, or you will not be happy. welcome to the site:jump:

i dont really want to make all that much power at this point, i need this tranny to last till at least next summer so i can get some money saved up.

Hey guys, i have a quik question. Say i found a 5 speed or a 6 speed, would it bolt right up in place of my automatic?

94 12valve 08-17-2010 11:01 AM

should bolt right up ... you may have to shorten or make the drive shafts longer

12valvetater 08-17-2010 02:09 PM

Front will need to be stretched rear will need to be shortened. Transfer case will need to have a five speed input shaft installed.

guys i removed my fuel plate, tuning the afc tomorrow should i put the plate back and and tune the afc or leave it plate less and tune the afc which would give more power?

94 12valve 08-18-2010 05:58 AM

WaitinOnaCummins 08-22-2010 08:50 PM

Hey guys, another question. Would it be better to buy the whole air intake kit, or could i just buy an air filter and put it on the turbo it self?

monster12valve 08-22-2010 08:55 PM

you could do a bhaf... search bhaf in the search bar.... for if you got the money the icebox intake is awesome!.. Icebox and brice will hook u up!

tiremann9669 08-22-2010 09:26 PM
