Glow Shift Gauges?

Usually I'm an Autometer guy in my modern vehicles, and Stewart-Warner in my old ones, but looking for a combo deal for this truck. I had Isspro's in my last truck and I hated them. I just like a clean looking set of gauges that are visible day & night, and don't stand out or clash with the interior.

I've seen the Glow-Shift gauges, and damn if I can't find a better deal out there for 3-gauges and the pillar pod as a combo.

So what's the story on these gauges? Are they junk? How's the included hardware? Any problems? I've seen "glow-shift" in alot of signatures, and would like some opinions on them before I commit to buy. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

bowtech 03-18-2010 01:20 AM

they are junk i have a egt and boost the egt broke you get what you pay for in quality and customer service trust me i called them about it

tltruckparts 03-18-2010 01:21 AM

ive heard nothing good about them either. i LOVE my autometer ultra lite. very classy looking too IMO

TXHC 03-18-2010 01:26 AM

Yeah I've always used the AM Ultra-Lite's myself. They look great and have a solid reputation. The Glow-Shift just seems like mass-produced Chinese made stuff, but I wanted to know if they were worth the $200 they are asking for the 3-gauges and pillar pod with free shipping.

For 3 Autometer Ultralites and a full pillar pod, I'll be over $300 before shipping.

I guess $100 difference ain't bad for piece of mind though:humm:

Dr. Evil 03-18-2010 01:33 AM

The only thing good about Glowshift is they sell A pillar pods for cheap.

TXHC 03-18-2010 01:49 AM

hehe, thanks for the replies guys.

mfolsomblueD 03-18-2010 07:13 AM

I had issues with mine from day one also:argh:

cummins95 03-18-2010 07:23 AM

wow. i like mine and i've never had any kind of an issue with them. i got em probably 9 months to a year ago n they are still workin fine. maybe i just got lucky.

96blackcloud 03-18-2010 08:45 AM

same with me they installed nice and i have had them for about a year and no problems thus far 200 dollars well spent so far

BAD ASS RAM 03-18-2010 08:47 AM

i have heard as much as 400*difference in temp between glowshifts and good name brand gauges, and 400* is enough to melt something down!and i have a friend with a stock 24v with a 75hp chip on it,and his glowshift boost gauge shows him to build 30psi in first gear by like 2000 rpm's and i don't see that!!!

Hightech_Redneck 03-18-2010 10:09 AM

why didnt you like the isspros? thats what i have and i love them..... i would never get glowsh!t gauges though

Pyro690 03-18-2010 10:14 AM

Always been an Autometer guy and still thats all I buy. :tttt: :c:

12vcummins96 03-18-2010 10:38 AM

glowshit guages name says it all :ouch: go with diprocal or autometer since you dont like isspro i love my isspros

TXHC 03-18-2010 12:55 PM

I didn't like the bland look of the Isspros. The EGT was the standard black face, colored lettering type, and it just looked like it belonged in an old dump truck. The Boost was the same face design, but it didn't even match the EGT. The worst thing was I couldn't see the gauges at night. Even when experimenting with different bulbs, LED's, etc...I still could barely make out what the gauges were showing at night. They were very accurate, but just lacked any visibility and modern looks. I know Isspro makes their EV gauges, that are supposed to light better, and match factory gauges better, but the prices are stupid high for a basic looking gauge.

I also don't like the Westachs. They look like aircraft gauges and don't mix well with the trucks factory gauges.

The main reason I was looking at the Glow-Shift gauges other than their cheap price, was the fact that their 7-color design, with the black face, would allow me to match the factory gauges a little better than anything else out there.

I never seen DiPricols, but after a glance on their website, I'm very interested in their Optix gauges...they look pretty damn nice.

BAD ASS RAM 03-18-2010 01:05 PM

looks aint gonna keep your motor running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i think everybody on here would agree that the autometer ultralite is one of the most popular and that they look great whith the silver faces, and with the black on silver they show up good at night, just cause they don't turn bright pink don't mean you should turn them down!!!!!!besides you can't hardly see the glowshits in the daylight.

TXHC 03-18-2010 01:13 PM

Yeah I always ran Ultralites before and loved them ...I traded some turbo parts for the Isspros, so bleh. I'm already over the Glow-Shifts. For $79 more I can get the Autometer Ultralite 3-gauge combo with triple pillar pod, and for $89 more than glowshifts I can get the DiPricol Optix 3-gauge combo with triple pillar pod. So it'll be between those two.

I got a trip to Vegas coming up so I can't spend any money right now, will have to wait til next paycheck.

Thanks for the input fellas.

FastCR 03-18-2010 01:20 PM

I have AMs and they are okay, but I've driven a truck with the dipricols and man they are nice looking gauges. also have a good rep.

MUDDY 03-18-2010 07:05 PM

i've had dipricols on several rigs. they are my preference. however i think you will find getting the dipricols is gonna be tough now. something is going on within their company to make availability a bear.

was hoping glowshift wouldve been good quality. price is hard to beat.

ztk7220 03-18-2010 07:24 PM

I just bought some of them but haven't put them in yet hope they work for me

bowtech 03-18-2010 07:38 PM

look in the for sale you can get brand new auto meter trans temp boost and pyro for nothing $35 for boost $100 for pyro and then he wants like 45 for the trans temp cant even get crappy glowshift that cheap

Ok, but which Isspros did you get?

You need to get the EV (enhanced visibility) series or Performax.

Isspro makes a good gauge - mine have never missed a beat and theyve been making guages for 90 years.

All those look like they belong in a dump truck??

Or did you have the old style like these?:

Just dont blindly say you "dont like" something - do some research. Also, you can get LED lighting with the EV and EV2 series and Performax series Isspros too.

kayden101 03-18-2010 08:22 PM

older style sure does look like the dump truck ones lol

TXHC 03-19-2010 01:57 AM

Thanks to everyone for their input on the Glow-Shift Gauges, I'm sure they are great gauges for the money, but I'll be going with the trusty Auto Meter Ultra-Lites which I've used in the past, or the DiPricol OPTIX gauges if I can find them. I've had my experience with the Isspros, and they aren't fit to my liking, so I won't be trying out any of their other gauges...that's that.

FastCR 03-19-2010 02:02 AM

GOS performance stocks the DiPricol. Tell them Ryan sent you and I still want a sticker. They are a sponsor on here.

monster12valve 03-19-2010 03:50 PM

i have isspro in my truck.. my buddy just installed glowshift on his 12v. we have the exact same mods and all the gauges read the exact same and freeway and city speeds... my isspro are 1 year old and his glowshift are about 4 months old... i am a believer in you get what you pay for.... the reason MY truck has isspro.
