Changing the filter is all well and good but whats up with the FASS kind of stuff and pre filters..is it worth it? I like my truck.:ok1: Oh and that ticking bothers me...

OK, I understand now.

Theres nothing wrong with the 1997 tech. The 12V fuel system including the transfer pump and injector pump is bulletproof.

The only weakness is that changing the fuel filter is not a very pleasant task. Yes, the FASS or Airdog with the filters will provide better filtration, and makes changing the fuel filter easier - but thats about all its going to do for you. Again, the stock system is good for 600 hp.

no sh#t... :yeah:Cause 500 to a 1000 bones on a lift pump, sounds like a build up to me... Don't get me wrong, I work the hell out of my truck. Then take the kids to the beach. I was just thinking there might be something alittle better then stock. Does the install of an after market system involve all new fuel lines? Out here on the rock I just seem to have to make stuff work alot..I was looking for a bolt in replacement. A few fittings and stuff, a wire harness and the like is ok but all new lines:argh:. Best to ask then to screw the pooch.

Fass or Airdog

My lift pump was making the same ticking noise A little over a year ago.So i had a shop near my place replace it with a new one.A month later the new one was making the same ticking noise.I had it replaced again and they found it to be defective. It hasnn't done it since. You can just put in a new one.I asked the shop the same question you are.And they said the lift pump on the 12v's are really durable, even with modded trucks.

Yeah i don't think i'm gonna hit the 500hp mark any time soon. So mabe a stocker would be best.. Easy on the wallet at least.

It was easy for my wallet to.The ticking was driving me crazy to

I wanna skip the shop part though, Paying rent for my carport is better then 100 an hour in a shop..:notworking: Any reason not to? Was it electric or mechanical? It's on the rail right..

97cummins 06-26-2009 02:51 AM

It is mechanical and not electrical.Man that sucks not having a job.Hope you get one soon. It's not on the rail.Thats a later 24v cummins. It's on the lt side of the engine mounted to the block located below the fuel filter.

LOGANSTANFORTH 06-26-2009 03:55 AM

its bolted on the driver side of the engine block under the fuel filter, its easy to swap, it looks like a fuel pump off an old small block chevy gasser.....
