Pull them back out. Pull out the shims and just run the springs go initial and three clicks. This is how Weston said to set mine up and it works great.

He's saying to install the locks until you feel the first positive click and then go three more clicks.
|
ok so 4 clicks alltogeather
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- could the linckage be out of adjustment? i just dont understand why it wont rev in od but when its off it will go to 3000 what the f@$ck |
Does anyone have some more info here?
|
my truck has th 4k kit in it and i cant really get mine over 3k for some reason either
|
That's odd. I had my 96 shimmed and it would go over 3K.
You could go a couple more clicks in on both of them and see what happens. If it idles really high after you do that then you know the springs are too tight. Have you verified that your fuel filter and pre-filter are clean and sealing tightly? You could try stretching the spring in your overflow valve. |
Put a FP gauge on it. Past 3K it really takes advanced timing to do the job under load.
Did you try the 4 clicks on the 4K? How many springs did you have? Also you can expect roughly 100rpm increase with every click past the 4. So if at 4 its at 700 then 5 slicks would be roughly 800 6 would be 900 etc.... |
I have it @3 clicks, i just did a full tune up on the truck today, fuel filter-prefilter-trans fluid/filter/ i did have to lower the idel 200 or 300 rpm when i was done, it seems to run good but i thought it would run better and fuel harder but i guess it just doesnt:argh: i dunno i am sick of messing with it, every time i take it appart i get oil everyplace and its just getting old doing this in the cold. it runs fine for now so i am just going to leave it for now and wait till it warms up:madd:....i do want to pull the tank thoe and see the condition of the tank fuel filter, maybe thats having an effect on it?
|
all it is in the tank is a little screan i pulled my tank to replace the sender last fall, this truck has 260,000 miles on it and there wasnt a spec of dirt in mine
|
Try stretching the overflow valve spring a bit like a suggested earlier. It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel- could be a pressure issue or a volume issue.
Notice any fuel leaks? It's not uncommon for the rubber sections of the fuel lines that pass by the trans to rot..... |
