400hp?

im looking to get my truck to about 400 hp so hopefully i can take down these duramax's around here. i have a 94 12v 5 speed 4x4 200k miles w/ a sb 450 hp clutch, no plate, 4gsk, starwheel turned a bit, ic boots, afe intake, 4in straight exhaust. i assume im about 300 hp but im not sure. its just a dd that i race when a harda$$ pulls next to me. i thought about injectors but when i race i can hit 1100 degrees by the end of the race so im not sure this should be my first upgrade. i was thinkin about studs and headgasket then gettin some injectors. what do u guys think? also what size injectors do u guys think i should get for 400 hp?

12valvetater 03-10-2009 10:29 PM

370s are 5 on .012 and are pretty cheap they will support good numbers but beware they get hot i would suggest probably doing a new gasket and headstuds then going to a larger turbo. i have 370s in my truck and when im feeling froggy they will lay some heavy smoke with the stock turbo i pinned my 1600* gauge about a month and a half ago with them also

stkdram55 03-10-2009 10:38 PM

get a turbo and some GOOD sticks, the 370's make decent power but like stated above they get hot fast and the reason being is the spray pattern is not right for the bowl of the pistons. If ya get a good turbo 64 or 66/14 you should be good to go then do the headstuds and everything while your in there and you should be to 400 no problem:choochoo:

A good set of sticks and pump tuning will get you there easy.

I would stay away from 370s myself. You can find some sticks with the correct spray pattern for just a little bit more.

timing bump some ddp 3's and a 16 cm turbine housing should get you there

dieselmadscientist 03-11-2009 12:30 PM

maybe stage two injectors and a fast spool up turbo and intercooled to handle the pressure then should run like a scawled ass ape :rocking:

94 12valve 03-11-2009 01:13 PM

the stock innercooler is good for well over 400 hp

yeah i want to get the timing done, the ddp3's r too expensive lol and i cant put a 16cm housing on it bc i have a wh1c not the hx35

94 12valve 03-11-2009 08:16 PM

the 16 cm housing should still fit the wh1c. As mush as I'm not a fan 370's are an option. they are not the correct spray angle, they run dirty, and hot but they are cheep. IMO I would save up the money for a good set of injectors.

oglejust 03-11-2009 09:12 PM

well the 370s r only like 50 bux less than the pure diesel power 435s

94 12valve 03-11-2009 09:24 PM

370's are 5x.012's and 435's are 5x.014. 435's have the right spray angle but they are a good size injector lot of fuel for the stock turbo. the 370's should be fine with a thinner washer and 16- 16.5* timing. I thought 370's were cheeper than the 435's?

Beets 03-11-2009 10:20 PM

i was building 375rwhp with mild dvs, no plate, afc tuned, intake exhaust, thats what i know was done it could have been timed but not positive.

navalseabee 03-11-2009 11:24 PM

on my 95 5 spd 4x4. i have my stock HX35 on top of an HT3B, 0 fuel plate, 191 delivery valves, afc is messed with, 5 inch down pipe, 5in exhaust. i don't know exact hp put i stomp my buddies modded dmax (ppe programmer, 5in exhaust, injectors, intake). bad!:rocking:

you also have bigger dv's and bigger injectors than he does right now. But still very nice numbers

true hopeing to dyno it again since i have done a more to it since the last dyno i should be in the 500 range

12valvetater 03-12-2009 08:55 PM

with the 370s if you put in a thicker washer they will run better

12valvetater 03-13-2009 07:59 PM

from what my buddy told me yes. am i wrong?

oglejust 03-14-2009 12:17 AM

how bout stock 215 injectors?

A thicker washer would raise the injector makeing the spray pattern wider. A thinner washer lowers the injector makeing the pattern tighter.

yeah stock 215 injectors are 5x10's I think, they will get you to 400 with some good pump tuneing

392hemix 03-14-2009 09:32 PM

how are the ddp 90 hp injectors? anybody run thoes? BTW, where do you guys get the 16mm turbine housing?:humm:

oglejust 03-14-2009 10:07 PM

^^^^ yeah where do u get the housing? and can anybody confirm that the housing will fit the wh1c

xzaq103 03-15-2009 12:26 AM

I think TST sells a 16cm housing.

215s are 5x10 or 5x9.5 or somthing like that lol

ddp3s (90hp) would be a good mild injector. I think your money could be better spent on some different sticks.

high tech trubo sells them brand new

Smoketracks 03-15-2009 06:13 PM

1100 deg is pretty hot for your current setup. I suspect that not having a plate in, is why it is getting that hot. Did you think about putting a 100 plate in and injectors? I bet your egt's will come down and have better power. I have hauled 14000 lbs at times, never had egt problems. This was before the new turbo. I hit 1000 a few times. Just somethibg to think about.

oglejust 03-16-2009 12:51 AM

i thought about the 100 plate thing bc i have 1 but ive never had it in
