Just curious what everyone's egt's run.

At idle i'm around 300deg
Unloaded going down a strait road around 600deg, if i'm getting on it up a hill around 800
Towing, i try and keep it below 1100deg

this also depends were you have your sensor. i cant remember but i think it runs colder after the turbo and hotter before the turbo.

EGT's

On the older 24v engines the best place for the sending unit most agree on is in the middle of the exhaust manifold between cylinders 3 & 4 but with common rails most that I've read put them between 5 & 6 as this apparently is the hottest. My values are common with those previously stated. Also ambient temps will have some effect I've found. Most don't feel that post turbo is a good idea because there is a big, as in 300* difference. I'd rather know what the actual temp is right after combustion.

Yeah i definetly agree, i wish i put mine between 5 and 6. But atleast i got somewhat of an idea what the temp are. I plan on buying a different exhuast manifold eventually with the adaptor already on it.

Im 300 when idle, 600-900 on highway, and I lift off the throttle when I hit 1200 while towing,( mostly when pulling a pass high elevation and hphot outside) that's the only time I get that hot, I put my prob right about the turbo
