Who Has A Winter Guard?

I'm sick of getting heat as I pull into the parking lot at work. does anyone here use one? got pictures and if they think it works well?

What do you mean - like a winter front? If so, yes I have one. Works well.

GRI 01-23-2008 12:05 PM

yes winter front, guard.

do you have the grill inserts ore the tarp like thing that wraps around the radiator?

I'm thinking more of doing the grill inserts. I'll be making them.

I had grill inserts for about 10 minutes - I bought them from Dodge and they sucked - 2 of them vibrated out of place. I opted for a insulated snap on (not the brand) winter front with opening flaps.

Works great.

yeah I see dodge has the mopar winter front.

does your truck heat up much faster?

Longhorn 01-23-2008 12:59 PM

I use the inserts, always have and in my opinion no, it wont heat up faster, but on the hiway it will MAINTAIN the heat much better. Up here you can be right up to operating temp and hit the hiway and lose all your engine heat and of course your heater blows only lukewarm for the entire trip....

Without a winter front I couldn't get mine up above 140 degrees on a 16 mile drive to town last year and with it on I can get it up to 190 on the same drive. All I can say is with our warm -17 below zero temps this past few weeks it sure helps my engine to warm up a lot faster then with out one.

JMHO

i use one it works well. mine cost a pretty pennie it was free...i took a piece of cardboard from work cut it to fit and spray painted it black...all i did was jam it behind the grille...if anything at least try the cardboard first to see if you like it...

I use the Lund grill inserts......I put em on in the fall when I am done with the A/C and take em off in the spring when I need the A/C again

the truck warms up much faster once ya hit the highway since that cold cold air aint goin thru the radiator

if you tow pull the winter front.....even in the winter
