Well guys, what do I do? Two trucks, almost identical, one is a 2004 and 1 is a 2005. The 2004 has 105000 miles, and the 2005 has 76000 miles with the remaining factory warranty till May of 2012. Which would be the best buy in your opinion? They are asking the same price as well, but the 2004 has an aftermarket bumper, lifted 6 inches, fender flares, and an upgraded stereo. The 2005 is all stock.

I personally like stock trucks that way I can do the mods I like. But it's hard to tell what's the better buy without seeing them. Stock trucks get beat hard or are treated like cars same way with modified trucks. Could be babied or ran hard

stock would be my answer, this way i can build it my self and know it was done right.

TeckJohn 02-14-2011 06:50 AM

Whats the price on either?

If the modded truck has what your gonna do anyway that would save you alot of money! But if your going in another direction then the stock one for sure!!

CreeperSleeper 02-14-2011 04:16 PM

I would buy the one that is in better condition and drives the best. :c:

MarineOne 02-15-2011 05:12 AM

I'd look at the one that drives better, but I also have a feeling that it would also be the stock truck.

My only concern about the '05 would be the plastic capped intercooler ..... on the modded '04, it would be more like "where do I start" if there's a problem.

I'm gonna put my vote for the 2005. Less miles, warranty, a year newer, and you can build it how you want with the bragging rights of saying you did so.

The 05 seems like a better buy if you are going to use it as a work/tow truck.
1) With the 04 the 6" of lift might make it hard to work out of and won't tow as well.
2) Less miles on the 05
3) Plus you have a 15 month warranty on the 05

Easy decision IMHO

Well guys, I ended up gettin the 05. And I love it. The intercooler has been upgraded by the factory after the stock plastic piece of crap blew out the side. Previous owner did this. And I don't know if the MPG's are correct or not, but I am averaging 25.5 everywhere I drive according to the digital readout up top. Drives great, not a mark on it, has plenty of power for even stock. Not nearly as much as my 97 12 valve, but good. Lookin to get some guages here in the near future. got some Marathon superhides on order and am a happy camper. Thanks for all of the opinions...:c:
