12v into an 03
 

i have an 03 w/ a 5 speed. I just replaced my injectors, lift pump, transfer case, and everything. I had the return line on the back of my head get a hole in it. tired of working on this thing over and over. I know that in a few weeks i'll have to replace something else and i'm sick of it. So I'm wondering how hard it would be to put a reliable motor in my pickup?

What are you doing with the truck? putting a new engine in it will be more $$$$ in the end, you can make a CR reliable over 500hp easy:pca1:

i don't really care about the power i care about getting to work and back and my commonrail is really letting me down. at least a 12v you could usually make it work to get there and back but with the commonrail it's all or nothing. tired of breakdowns but i love the way my pickup looks.

so my commonrail just galled a piston at 200k(which is bs) so now i'm doing the swap i got everthing figured out except the electrical. ik that is the hardes part. can anybody help me please.

I love my CR.... Anyways Jeff Garmon did this to a half ton 03 and it all worked. He never went into detail on his posts how he did it but it can be done somehow lol the whole dash is run by the computer. Sounds like fun... Not

ya it doesn't look like much fun either. hate my commonrail miss my 12v. you could buy some parts for sale off of my commonrail right now haha. I'm slowly putting it together but i'll git'r done.

what parts you got for sell of your commonrail i sold my 97 cummins for a 03 cummins hope i didnt mess up i know my 97 alway got the job done pm me everything you got for sell and wat you want for them

well i have everything on the motor for sale, except the turbo. has reman injectors with 3k miles on them, if anybody wants to buy them i'll have them pop tested and everything. it still runs just knocks. I can put a sound clip on here if you want lol. my brothers driveway looks like the gulf oil spill where it blew my rear main seal out. I might have to keep the a/c compressor and alternator depending on if they can be converted or not. but i believe starting this weekend i will be pulling the motor out and going about the schematics and rewiring so i don't have my cel on all the time. and if it is i'll take the bulb out lol. i have the nv4500 so the tranny should bolt up ok. this will be time consuming and i'll actually enjoy it. if ya'll want i guess i can post pictures of this throughout the process.:w2:

haha how much in detail ya'll want cuz i can take a million pictures of this. somebody should send me a wiring harness to do this so i don't have to make this

this is why i want a 12v. note pickup has 350k on it

also got my pickup home today so will begin pulling apart hopefully tomorrow.

got the cr out and the head pulled of today to expose what happened. It will need a rebuild due to the gouge on the left hand side on cylinder 6. I'm guessing the wrist pin on the piston was causing it. no wonder it had blowby lol. oh well 12v swap is underway.

man i tried to find a damn shop and nobody wants to let me use it so i'm going rednecked out. i'm on my way to get the 12v to pull the motor out of it here in a sec. i'll have a picture of 2 motors sitting there in a few days lol.

When you say gettin the electrical figured out Im guessin you're talking about the rest of the truck and not the engine?

haha just the injector wiring and ecu. i have i figured out though i think lol. i'm relocating the ecu and keeping it hooked up to run my sensors and whatnot still need to look at the wiring schematic to see if i can loop sensor i dont need or other various things.

Sorry didn't mean to confuse lol. I have the injector wires coming from the ecu I'm going to have to redo since i now will not have electronic injectors. I'm trying my hardest to do this without the CEL coming on.

they dont call the 12v the million mile motor for nothing. Tried to talk my buddy into the same swap when his '05 CR locked up at 123k

haha it'll be some crazy codes probably. i guess you'll be the first to see david lol. and i miss my 12v.

mmmm wish my pickup still looked like that sorry still haven't got the motor out my donor yet they've been running me ragged at work with harvest coming up. it'll come as soon as i finish up my front end on my 97 i just got.

Ok, so newest update. Got my valair single disc in yesterday, couldn't afford to buy the double disc right now. Got my 5 in. exhaust in today. I've got the motor ready to pull out of the 97 and will be going straight into the 03 this weekend. I've got everything I need now so I'm ready lol. sorry it's taken so long. I'll have plenty of pics taken this weekend to put on here for ya'll to see. Is there any specific photos ya'll would like taken to describe anything a little better? Just trying to help anybody out that would want to do this swap also.

I think he has the engine ready to go in. Its been way too hot lately to even walk outside.lol
