07 cummins in an 04.5
i have a 2004.5 ho. that crapped the bed. i can pickup an 07 engine for a pretty good price. i was wondering is it a direct replacement or what would i have to modify to make it work. i know i would need the 07 brain, will my current transmission work or will i need the 07 tranny too. are the plugs on the wiring harness the same? :c:

Use the 04.5 computer and wiring harness. You'll need to use the valve cover, rocker box, heater grid, and apps off of the 04.5.
|
what about the timing for the engine, will the 04.5 computer be the same as the 07?
|
The timing is the same. No difference.

i don't mean to sound ignorant, but when you say rocker box do you mean the top part of the head and the rockers too? and i'm not familiar with apps? the acessories? this is my first diesel swap, i usually work on mopar muscle cars. i appreciate all the help:c:

Rocker box- also known as lower valve cover. Part where your injector connectors are mounted to.
APPS- accelator pedal postion sensor/ throttle postion sensor. Mounted by three bolts to the left front of engine. |
put the truck back on the road last week, runs great. thanks for all the help jagsdiesel:c:

Cool!! Sure nice to have it back I bet!

it is like driving a cadillac, i've been driving my 83 military chevy for the last year, no a/c and no radio. it wasn't bad in the winter, but summer in florida was a killer.
