:td: Oh, for the love of penis! I'm so glad that someone is getting this post back on topic. I was about to file suit against BOTH of them. At least they'd both have their proof! Personally, I don't think I'd do business with either one of them after THIS!:argh:

ANYWAY... what has changed on the '06 that wouldn't make any of this a problem? And if it IS still a problem, would an Airdog and a 5-6 cooler upgrade fix all of this? I can't afford to pull an engine any time soon!

not sure if this will help.

the marine engines, 12v or 24, they use a different cooling nozzle, it supposed to lubricate the engine better, because the engine runs at a constant rpm level (around 2800 or 3,000)

I do now this, if you put regular cooling nozzles in the engine for a marine, you will smoke #1 and #6 piston every time because of the cooling nozzle.

maybe there is a coincidence in this very same problem that you all are having.

I will appologize for getting this thread off track. And I'm sorry it upset some of you.
BUT I will hold strong in my posistion and will advocate and back my customers 100% and if they've been cheated or taken advantage of by one of MY vendors I'm on their side plain and simple!
I still personally feel that it's got alot to do with the exhaust manifold on the 3G trucks.

emp1134 12-06-2009 01:47 AM

I too think the manifold has something to do with it. The 04.5+ run much hotter EGT's than previous engines. I think the third injection event cycle has something to add to this. A 9cm turbine housing and not enough boost psi also don't help things. When I added a boost fooler to keep the waste gate closed my egt's dropped alot. I have towed heavy with this truck since it was new. I have run synthetics in the engine since 1k miles. I used to run the crap out of it until I put in gauges at 60K and realized how hot the EGT's where.

So I take it the ports that need to be accessed are NOT the ones at the BACK of the head (against the firewall), or the freeze plug in the block*, but rather the one at the top of the head?
