thinkin about new front bumper
thinking about installing a new front bumper, three of my friends have hit deer recently like within the last 4 months, so i figure its only a matter of time before i get nailed...
what kind of bumpers do you guys recommend? i only know of a few companies so any help would be greatly apprectiated. i like the ranchhand, not fond of road armor, or buckstop thx, Matt |
Too bad you are that far from Texas.
Ranch Hand was too rich for me. I went with a Ranch Hand knock off and saved hundreds. Iron Horse is a local bumper company that manufactures front and rear bumbers. You can not tell the difference between the 2 companies unless you know them. Tough Country is another bumper but I did not care for their design. Hope this helps. http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines....ort/348758.jpg http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines....ort/337567.jpg |
Any contact info for this company. I'm in Austin, where are they located?
|
I'm trying to talk myself out of either the buckstop or trailready, I need to put that money into something else like a torque converter and VB. I need more money, or a job. Sorry for the thinking out loud, I'm tired.:m:

Don't forget the aluminum bumpers. Ali-arc, Denver off road, Herd, and Ute come to mind.
I have a Herd on my truck, and would go with another one in a heart beat. Been thinking about getting a custom ali-arc made for the Ford though. |

I think ranch hands are hideous. they look like they attached a big bumper and then drove through every close barn gate they could then welded them on.
tough country and buckstop gets my vote. they have a lot less crap on them. or you can build your own like I did. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_246_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_244_full.jpg |

thank you Im still debating if I want to make one for this truck. |
This is the new bumper out that a ton of the oilfield guys here are running....I cant decide....I like the looks, but they seem a tad 'clunky' but are real light, way lighter that any of the steel bumpers, and they accomodate the factory fog lights!!!

UTE's are a bit different arent they? A couple of years ago I had a chance to buy a UTE for COST...and didnt buy it. Im kicking myself now. |
ha ha
you know I would love to get into this. but everyone is sue happy these days and Im afraid that if I build one I will lose everything I own. I'll have to look into it. thanks for the compliments |
Leduc Hitch has some left and are blowing them out (the UTE) last chance!!
And yes those are the Ali-Arc which I love, but no accomodation for the fogs which I wont go without! |

I really like this one....its big and tough, yet doesnt overpower the front of the truck. Similar to a Ranchhand Bullnose.

Sorry about the delay.
Sorry, not everyone has the same taste in products. Diversity sure is cool. Here is the site for the Iron Hosre set up. http://www.ironhorsetrucks.com/ Looks like they are still developing their website. Gotta good price with my local dealer Trailer Wheel and Frame. |

Thanks. It is a 8" drop bumper with a 10" drop hitch. I have a low trailer tha I pull around town here.
|
Check out www.bradfordbuilt.com for your front bumpers folks! They are made in Washington Kansas. Called for a price a couple months ago when they were just introducing them on the market and a complete bumper/grille guard was $750. Didnt think that was too bad of a price.
|
I stopped and looked at these bumpers one day on my way by their location and they are an extremely well built unit. Saw a similar design by ranch hand and these are fairly close to that, but for half the money!
|
TexasRamMan, any idea if iron horse offers stuff for second gens? i like the looks of thier products... think i should just give them a call when i eventually plan on getting myself a bumper like that?
|
Nuk, they make bumpers for all makes and models. They will even custom make you one if you design it for them. I talked to the owner when he was delivering bumpers.
|
Good deal. once i am in the market for bumpers ill have to look into it more/contact them. good lookin product IMO and price sounds good to me.

I think they would look much better if they didnt stick out so much and were tighter to the truck. |
there way to expensive but roadarmor.com i've always liked there Stealth bumpers

Here is my custom AliArc. It was built with 5 uprights rather than 2 or 3, has the bottom rake, 4 light tabs. integrated LED amber strobes, and a front receiver hitch. It might look "over powering", but I don't call it my deer strainer for nothing. :) The more a bumper covers a front end, the more protection (and less damage) you'll have in a crash. I'll take all the unfair advantage I can get.
