head swap
im usually just a learker and can find most stuff searching but im tearing my motor down it had a dead cyl 6. The bottom end is good rings look decent no scoreing of the cyl walls and pistons all look good. cyl 6 has oil getting in it some how i fig its the head im going to send it in to get checked. But befor i go nutz i scored a head off a 07 5.9 e/n 57638264 anyone know if it will work on my 05 5.9 e/n 57307967?.

Yup no problem. When you say dead cylinder elaborate a bit more on that?!
|
i was having a miss fire and eating oil so let the truck cool off started it up and cyl 6 exhaust stayed cold i swapped the injector same issue so i pulled the head and cyl 6 has a clean bore but the piston and head have oil on them so im leaning towards a bad valve seat or something that cuaseing oit to get in and low compression. The miss fire and oil burning would go away when the engine was hot

Did you check for blow by? The head will not do that. But you can have it leak tested.
I'll bet on broken ring or rings! |
oh she had blowby like a cho cho train the cyl all look good there glazed so im going to pull the pistons give it a hone amd put new rings in with the new to me head should work out for the better if not well f@&$ it lol
|
ok good was afraid you were going to put it back together!
|
