This is still not indicative of a smarty only problem. The smarty may be modifying the problem, but most likely not the cause. If one truck has the problem..50 others will as well!

I guess we'll have to keep our eye's peeled.

True..... Lets see what happens on different settings. What kinda Gauges you got?

wildbill 03-23-2008 06:49 PM

Super Chips Laser Gauges.

Just wondering if something is going on with your fuel pressure.

wildbill 03-23-2008 06:59 PM

I need to do something to monitor. I hope my Fass isn't going south already.

mysterync 03-23-2008 07:10 PM

I see one of three things wrong

1: Bad or failing injector
2: Crank Sensor (rare sympt.)
3: Cam Sensor (Rare sympt)
4: Possibly a Bad overflow

Changing levels is only going to change other parameters and make it harder to diagnose. Always start your diagnosis with no programers and chips. While it may start better at first, theres always the possibility that the problem was never related to the programer!

If I can help, I will be in the shop tommorow! I've got to do a set of injectors on a CR truck, So if i dont answer leave a message and I'll call you back!

I do have a slight rough idle. But if #'s 2 and 3 go, will it set off a code, or does the sensor have to completely die before a yellow light shines?

mysterync 03-23-2008 07:22 PM

It may never set a code, its hard to say, Theres multiple ways a electronic injector can fail! Causing many symptoms and so on!

Intermittent long starts and rough idle is pain to to trouble shoot sometimes. The most common causes are:

Leaking rail pressure relief

Bad injector

FCA malfunction

Gounded harness wire

The CPS and cam sensor could cause the same problem but are monitored pretty tightly by the ECU and should present codes. You usually see other problem with the sensors also.

I see you have an upgraded turbo. The AC compressor wire rubbing on a mount or condensor line will cause these exact symptoms. Its an easy check.

FCA is a bit trickier but unplug it and see if that changes the starting and idle. Clean the plug and dielectric grease it when you put it back on.

The rail relief you can check visually and rule it out.

Injectors are just a pain cuz they won't throw codes and can check perfectly fine yet be the source of the problem.

Good luck finding the issue.
