i had this same issue on my rig back in 09.. it stuck in 3rd as well. took it to the shop and the TC was gone, and there were metal shavings all over the pan.. i just had it rebuilt to stock cause i didnt have the money for all the goodies(was heading to basic training) .. if you got the money... build er up... but yes your trans is shot..

hoping for no shavings globalwarmingcontributor cause....
i Did some more reading and talked to a guy. what i read and what he said it could be a pressure solenoid. Sense i had to cut into my tranny rebuild fund,:argh: gonna start there. anyone else had the solenoid problem.

you may be right, the governor pressure solenoid on the valve body? is that what hes talking about? if so, you can get those pretty cheap bud.. like 50-60 bucks. plus whatever the shop would charge to replace it..unless u wanna do it.. it shouldnt be too hard.

so your trans just went into limp mode. mine did it twice on me. first time my buddy pulled my trans fuse and 2nd time it was a 3rd-4th shift solenoid. Find somone with a quality scanner and look it up. itl have a code

pressure solenoids and and shift solenoids tend to be problems so a good chance its just one of them

Wirtzy 06-26-2012 11:12 PM

Yup!!!:jump: i changed both the solenoids shifting great again. now ill see how long it will last. 195000 and going strong, it has never been rebuilt(knock on wood) and its been chipped for almost 2 years now
