2001 dodge 5 to 6 speed!!

2001 dodge 2500 4x4 ...... This truck is currently a 5 speed 4 wheel drive ... To put a 6 speed in does the transfer case need to be changed due to the out put shaft size ??(trans to transfer case):humm:

No they are both 29 spline so you will be fine

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

Ok that being said it shouls be a direct swap after puting a 13 inch clutch (proper size) in the truck ....... Correct??

Be careful what input the 5600 has and u will need to do something about driveshaft length.

What he said.
Ifs it a quad cab/shortbed Ill have complete driveshafts coming out of a 6 speed truck fairly soon.

be carfull i have a six speed they have a larger flywheele than the five speeds to handel more torqu you shoul be fine running the smaller fly wheele but that is a diffrence so i thought i would throughin my two cents!

as previously mentioned, the tcase should be fine. However, the driveshafts will possibly pose problems. I've had 5 speeds with 241LD tcase that the output shaft for rear DS was too small for the driveshaft.

As for clutches, you can get the 12" clutch with the big input shaft splining, and retain your stock flywheel, but I wouldn't recommend it. Go with the 13" one for the 6speed. Don't forget that the starter may require a spacer, as well.
