Big psi turbo idea
hey guys, i was thinking and what if you took an aurora 5000 and put it on an exhaust manifold and once the exhaust went through the 5000, it would than break up into two different pipes and each one would go into a hx35. once it went through those two turbos, they would each have a single 4" exhaust leading back to the two stacks in the bed of the truck(like dual exhaust).the two hx35's would flow into the 5000 and than through the intercooler and so on.So tell me what you think and what i could do to improve this. :tu:

the positioning of the turbo's are backwards. the exhaust goes through the smaller turbo(s) first and then into the bigger one and out to the stacks, the air goes into the bigger turbo first from the air filter and thenout and into the smaller turbo and out and into the intercooler.....

the set i'm building is a 75mm secondary with a pair of 71mm primarys (195lb per min total which is more then a S510 95mm) my advice for holset would be for a street truck a 66mm secondary with a pair of 63mm primarys...for just the turbos this set would come in around $2000 and that set is capable of 1000hp on fuel and still be daily driven one thing to remember tho when you do a compound set the secondary spools slower then it would if it were a single so basicly you want to stay with a secondary that you know you can spool easily not something like a A5k that is laggy enough as a single because it will be that much worse in a compound set. the faster you can spool the secondary the faster the drive pressure will come up to spool the primary stage. then once the primary stage is spooled the secondary is just there to get the pressure ratio needed. that is also why you dont want to go huge with the secondary because the harder you drive the secondary the higher the pressure ratio and overall boost. but remember there comes a point when you can get too much of a good thing |

Would work but the 35s are not the best choice for the primary stage. I would look more at a pair of 60mm s300 box units for that setup and new those turbos are less then 650 each. But you would likly get the same result with a s480. I will have to look at some maps to see for sure.

Ok i found some maps best i can tell on my phone these are the flow ratings i found. Anybody can correct me if these are wrong.
Hx35 - 60lb per min S360 - 70lb S364 - 75lb S475 - 100lb S480 - 120lb S510 - 145lb So with a 64 secondary and 60s primary you get +-140lb which would be more like running a 95mm 510 for the primary where 35s would only be 120 or the same as a 480 There really is no advantage to doing small triples because you can get the same flow with a single primary Make sense? Seems to, just made me think, I'm getting a 64 off a buddy cheap, and he still has his old Hx35, could probably get it real cheap too, throw my 35 on there too, and I'd have a real conversation starter!

i just dont see it being worth it when a 80 would do the same thing and spool faster....think about this the combined weight of the pair of 65mm turbines in the 35s compaired to the weight of a single 88mm turbine.....
like i was saying before...i dont see small triple sets working all that well you could put a S475 under the 64 and they only run around $750 there was a guy on compd that done triple 35s and in the end he decided he would have been just as well off with a single 66mm for his application |
thanks for all the feedback. the main reason i got this idea is so that you could make big boost like in the 80 or 100 range without spending 4 grand on a compound set up.

a S363 over S480 will yeild you 80psi with enough fuel and for just the chargers you lookin under $2000
my pick for a street driver triple setup would be the S363 over S360s |
