Normal?

is this normal for a stock truck? Does anything need to be looked at/ replaced?

my old 2k would bounce like that, but thats def not normal smoke output :D How long have you owned the truck?

Re: Normal?

That's probably a direct reflection of crank sampling rate, but who knows.my opinion On the smoke is it could be anything from a map sensor issue to larger injector installed by previous owner, maybe a original mads catcher? Something eliminating torque management? . The best judge of smoke output and density would probably a roll on, I feel like the sun/shadow is making the smoke exaggerated but I may be wrong, I'm that way a lot lol

Gamecocks 09-27-2011 11:06 PM

only owned the truck for a month, MAP sensor sould throw a code and run rough, right?
the sun might have made it look slighty exaggerated but SLIGHTLY. Ill take another video if you want to see it from a roll or something. an original mads catcher? I take it thats a tuner like the smarty? i highly doubt its got a tune stored in it, the trucks pretty balls-less. Something elimintating torque? such as...?
Sorry for the stupid questions

Is the RPM bounce you're talking about the slight shake in the needle when it's in park? Mine does that too, doesn't worry me much (or at all.) And these guys are right about the smoke, that's alot, I think you need to plug into a good scanner, sometimes the key trick doesn't give you everything

Gamecocks 09-28-2011 10:38 AM

yeah it bounces in park, doesnt really bother me too much. I got some TPPS codes read and cleared at autozone, the only ones it had was p0122, 0123, 1698 and of course 1693

empty wallet 09-28-2011 11:25 AM

you had apps voltage too low and too high codes at the same time? :humm:

well, you may need an apps, but I'm gonna go with mysternyc, maybe a set of injectors done by previous owner... but if the truck runs fine and doesn't throw any codes, what's the problem?

Gamecocks 09-28-2011 02:21 PM

yeah the 0122 and 0123 codes were strange, i posted this before i got the codes cleared, it runs better now still a snail on the highway, and still smokes about the same as whats in the video

GuyWithA24Valve 09-28-2011 03:25 PM

Have you tried adjusting the APPS at all since you've owned it? I agree that the high and low apps voltage codes at the same time is strange and maybe it could be a bad APPS?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and have you done anything to the truck like a fuel system or gauges? Before I knew a whole lot about these trucks and my stock fuel pump was going out, the rpms would jump around like your gauge does. My tach moves around a little bit but not like that

Re: Normal?

Apps probably had a history code set. Possibly unplugged with the key on, possibly idle validation switch issue. Map won't always set code, more so if its biased and not out of range
