02 Auto Trans

I recently bought a 02 Dodge 2500 4wd auto, bone stock w/ 58,000 miles. I was driving it today and it won't stay in overdrive. About 55-60 mph or 1500-1700 rpm seems to be the worst about kicking in an out. I was on flat roads maintaining a steady speed. I'm new to auto transmissions behind a Cummins but this don't seem right.
Help or suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like your Torque Converter is locking and unlocking. Its caused by an electrical noise. Only real fix I found was to install a DTT Noise Filter.

You could also try this.

I tried this, but a little different. I didn't cut and extend both wires, I just put one wire in from a cab ground to the ground wire of the APPS, t-ing it in.

hello, I have posted a fixed that helped. I have a 02 cummins automatic, Several people on here have good results with and it, wont cost you anything but your time. There is a neutral ground wire that run fromthe alternator area to the battery on the passenger side by the aircleaner. its a large black with a white stripe on it. follow this wire back to the alternator, it will run into a large wire loom under the valve cover. remove this large black and white striped wire from this loom it will end with 3 or 4 smaller 16ga black w/white striped wires at the end. Now zip tie this wire to the top raditor hose away from the large wire loom. Reason being this large black white striped wire is neg. the wires in the large loom are pos. This fix total cured my problem with lock-up, I also am ruuning a BD noise diode. but this is what totally cured my problem!
