4x4 isnt really4x4

ok my truck is 4wd sorta lmao. if i shift to 4wd only one front wheel spins so this tells me i have an open differential.. i have taken the truck to a local dealer and they attempted to put a locker in the front end , went to slide axle shaft in and the axles were to big. roughly 1500$ i'm in the same spot.. can anyone give me some info as to if this is possible and or are the techs idiots? i would love to have all six wheel drive since my limited slip seems to be toast also... any info would help:argh:

arb offers a nice locker for it.. but IMO dont waist your money on the stock dodge dana60... your better off finding a ford 60 and goin from there... no more 2 piece inner axle shaft.. real locking hubs and tons of aftermarket support for lockers and all that mess..

just a question but what kinda locker did they attempt to put in it?

kyle davis 02-01-2011 09:55 PM

to be honest i don't know i never saw it but the papers said it cost around 534$ and i would rather keep the axles the same to keep it easier for me that and my luck it would dogwalk down the road

I thought about ARB Lockers. Even if the stock axle isnt bullet proof its not for off roading. For that emergency situation from ME sliding off road to pulling someone out etc. Also for putting boat in the water on the sand!

any idea how many splines it should be or am i stuck pulln it apart to find out

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

it snowed a bit here in kansas and thats why i got a 4x4 just in case and well i still have to work at gettn in the driveway

D-LUX 02-01-2011 10:03 PM

mhm from memory its a 35 spline.. and for that price it sounds like a detroit or maybe a lock rite locker... they prolly have the wrong spline count for axles

01quadcab 02-01-2011 11:50 PM

they prob ordered it for a 99 down front end I think they were less splines than the 00 up.. so after I posted this I went online and 00-02 32 spline and 94-99 is 30 spline.

kyle davis 02-02-2011 06:19 AM

ok so 32 or 35 splines lol

01quadcab 02-02-2011 10:31 AM

if it is stock it should be 32 spline. arb powertrax etc all have same info

D-LUX 02-02-2011 02:07 PM
