Gearing
Had the truck up in the air the other day, and while i was there I got curious about my gearing. So marked drive shaft, and tire. I had one guy hold one tire, and made sure i was fully engaged between drive shaft and rotating tire. anyway 2 rotations of drive shaft gave me on rotation of tire. That seemed rather strange to me.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- the diffs have been re sealed and the tag on the rear is turned backwards when it was put back on |
you have to turn the tires at the same time. just unbolt the the tag and look it's not going to make the cover leak.
whats your tires size and rpm's at 65?
On a 01 it has a tag in the glovebox that tells you everything in the powertrain
Auto or stick?
ok
could not make it out real well but heres what i got
m60/2 front 3.5 3.55 could not see which one m70/26 Its an Auto and I forgot to look at rpms in relation to speed on the way to work |
Sounds like you got 3.55 gears and 60 front axle and 70 rear axle. It should be turning about 1600 at 60 mph or somewhere close to that.
my 98.5 has 3.55 gears as well, if you wanna know for sure, call the dealership up and give them the vin number and they will tell you exactly whatcha got! :tu:
I have 4.10 in mine, 1900rpm@ 60 mph,265/75r16 tires,Need more overdrive!!
I have yet to have my spedo recalibrated for my 37 inch tires, but I was doing 70 and rpms were around 1800 to 1900. But I'm thinking I was actually doing about 75.
I have the NV5600 in mine with dana 60 front, dana 80 rear, with 3.55 gears and 285 series tires. My truck runs about 2,000 rpm at 70 mph
I going to have one of my law enforcment friends radar the truck, not sure of the accuracy, going from 245 to 265 tires going to get some kind of electronic box to change the shift points, exhaust brake, ultimately looking for better fuel milage maybe a little more power, I have to figure out how to post pics here, will get them on eventually
