'99 wont start
This might be kind of long but bear with me I don't know much about these 24 valves. I'm helping one of my friends with his truck. He put stopped to put fuel in it and it wouldnt start. So far ive replaced the lift pump because it wouldn't kick on after bumping the starter,and I have it wired to a switch now. I know this was a bad thing to do but he sprayed a bunch of either into it and when it caught I noticed that the tach and oil pressure didn't move even though it was spinning at a good pace. Is there a sensor that tells the ecm that it turning over to give power to the vp44? Its got fuel to the ip but not to the injectors.

:argh::argh::argh::argh::argh:never use ether

If he ran out, you need to prime the fuel system, don't use either ever on a cummins. To prime the system, there are 2 bolts on top of the filter housing, I forget which one it is, but crack open one of them and turn key till you get fuel, try starting, if it stilll won't start thecheck the fuel pump relay inside the fuse box under the hood

I bled the lines and everything and I played with the fuses. I searched and found out this has a cam sensor. Would the sensor cause a sudden no start?
|
Yes it could cause it but it should trip a cod
|
I accidently cut a CAM sensor wire on my truck once. Truck would still start, but no Tach and it threw a code. That is on a 2001 though, they may be different.

check your grounds! could be your issue
|
Crankshaft sensor is behind the starter that could be the issue. I have had this problem before.
