mine cracked and busted like that goin 75 down the tpk. was caused by u joints being out in fron drive shaft.

All 6 speed HO trucks came with a DHD in them auto or manual did not matter they all had a DHD, if it has a DLD it has been changed. Only difference is the input of the tcase as kazairl said all the outputs are the same in the later years especialy 01-02.

Is what I am saying is that the output shaft on a 5spd 4wd is the same as a 2wd auto you just have to extend your ds to fit but they are the same size cause I almost did it when I couldn't find someone to fix it cheaper than doin the conversion but trust me it can be done cause depending on the tc you have in your truck and if it's a 2wd depends on the tranny output size as well and I believe it also depends on the engine you have too

That's just like they told me that if I took a ECM off another truck it wouldn't work on mine but I drove it over 50k before it went out the ECM has alot of miles and abuse on it before I got it but it was free and worked dispite everyone saying that it wouldn't and I am getting ready to try another ECM experiment cause I now have a Ho ip on my truck and I'm gonna try to get the computer from a Ho to work on it

And the short box hd 5spd are special order if you didn't order it with the hd package you got the 60/70 and the dld and small brakes where as when you ordered the hd you got the 60/80 asd and the bigger 13'' brakes and the integrated trailer brakes and the hd 5spd versus the standard duty 5spd without the pto plate on the tranny as well And a few other things as well

And I don't have pics but the ## on the plate is different between auto and manual someone told me at a junk yard that the # had to match or it wouldn't work but the one thing I learned from all of that crap is dodge doesn't say what is what good enough and they have way way way too many variations of parts for the powertrain So it's just easier to keep what you got and find a way to make it work
