mirror questions...

i have the factory towing mirrors on my truck the ones u fold up and adjust by hand. My question is can i put newer power heated mirrors on my truck? i saw that behind the door panel it already has wiring for the smaller power mirrors.. at least i think thats what they are for. any help appreciated. thanx

hey i got the smaller power mirrors but i dont think they are heated. let me know if you might be interested in a trade cuz iv been looking for a set like the fold out towing mirrors like the ones you have.

kyle davis 11-04-2010 06:23 AM

well i dont want the smaller ones really or id trade my dad for his 98's. im wanting to know if 03 an newer mirrors would mount up and work

To my knowledge the 03 and newer mirrors have a larger mount and will not work on the older trucks. Heated, power mirrors for our style of truck can be found on eBay and many other places.

RAWilliams is correct. 3rd gen trucks mount will not sit right on your door, also the electrical connector is slightly different.

ok thanx guys does anybody know where i can find such mirrors? ebay and i dont get along real well

Besides buying the mirrors you'll have to buy the adjuster switch and the heated mirror switch( or find an A/C control that already has it.) The wiring is all there you just have to plug them in.

I bought my heated power tow mirrors on ebay for $180 new in box. They shake a lil when folded up but fine when down they are kool view.

You would have to purchase a set of aftermarket ones (KoolVue) as the OEM are not power/heated. As mentioned earlier, they can be found anywhere on the net for $180 or less.

The mirrors are not particularly difficult to install, although they are a lot easier with a helper. If you do not already have towing mirrors, you will need to get the reinforcing brackets as well. And no, they do not come with the switch; you would need to get one at a junk yard.

o ok would i have to get all the wires and stuff with the switch or should they already be in my pickup

The wires are almost always in place. You can always pull the door panel off to check. I have always seen the wiring on the ones I looked at.

Great post guys. I also have the "non" power tow mirrors in my 02 will definitely look into a heated power set. Also as a side note. My truck doesn't have Keyless entry bought it from original owner he says didn't come with the option. Would command start allow the keyless feature??
