Friend has a 24valve... what can i mod for him ?

He's got a 5" MBRP exhaust and an intake...

but i want to make it quicker for him, what can i do that doesn't cost $$$ ???

01cummins13 11-01-2010 11:22 AM

edge or quadzilla, injectors, turbo, all make it faster but all cost $$$$

angelic0- 11-01-2010 11:30 AM

pfff, i'm pushing 400hp for 0$...... what a POS this 24valve thing is then !

01cummins13 11-01-2010 11:36 AM

well yea, the injection pump on these is electronic so you need to first worry about the fuel pressure so it doesnt burn up then you gotta use a programmer to get more hp as well as turbo and injectors and such

hmmm, guess we'll have to convert it to P7100 then :) you'll get a thread about this in the next weeks ;)

crzycummins 11-01-2010 01:34 PM

hope you have money for all the conversion parts to a p-pump...cause that is by no means a cheap mod:pca1:

01cummins13 11-01-2010 01:36 PM

oh how could i forget the conversion, that does cost upwards of 3 grand? maybe less but still expensive.

So obviously no homework was done before walking in and asking questions. So far in this thread I see a guy that is shooting his mouth off. The 24V's are NOT "POS"s, they are just newer and have electronics. Want the biggest power #'s? Get a 12V P-Pump, want a truck that is capable of high idle, 3 cyl warm up, and easier cold weather statlting? Get a 24V or newer. They both have there advantages and disadvantages. I strongly suggest looking into things before you start labeling certain engines "POS"s.

chill my friend, what do you need if you have a screwed up P7100 sitting in the yard and a VP44 that makes no power, will it still cost 3grand ?

what would you need other than the P7100 and the parts off the 12valve ?

injector lines ?

You need to change the cam shaft on the 24 valve so you have something to run the P pump. I am sure your fuel lines wont work either.

Here is a guy that could answer all your questions 1-866-280-2587 ask for Mike he has done the swap you are talking :c:

If your P7100 in the yard is screwed, then you need another P-Pump.

VP44 that makes no power
Still not listening, eh? It doesn't make "no power", its just stock.

To this I don't know, as I bought a truck with an injections system that I wanted, and plan to keep.

Do some searching on this site, and on the web for conversion kits.

Tell your buddy to take his time and look at all the parts available for the Vp44 set up. there are modified Vp's, the programmers allow you to shift power levels on the fly. There is alot out there that will allow him to keep his set up and enjoy it for what its worth. These trucks arnt junk, they are just designed differently than the one your driving.

well the only reason you would change the cam is to get the fuel pump lobe for a 12v pump other than that the injection pump is driven off the motor.
