wipers

has any one had any trouble with the wind shield wipers not returning back down and on delay going one speed and coming on and off through the stroke.work fine on full on hi-low:argh::argh:

DieselWeasel 03-20-2010 06:49 PM

Yes, my truck does that... I think the fact that they stop 1/4" from all the way down is either the stop switch or the turn signal stalk. My guess for mine, and yours probably too is that the stalk is jacked up. My intermittent works not so intermittenly intermittenly! HAHA!
I was going to try that before digging into the motor for a stop switch.

mine did the same thing before i changed the wiper motor and its good to go

juiced_98andahalf 03-20-2010 08:13 PM

mine would stay on for like 5 minutes after i shut them off!
:argh:

blue24valvecummins 02-07-2011 08:26 PM

just go to your local napa or any parts store don't get a used one. the work to replace it u could just as well get a new one there about 70 to 80 dollars or go to RockAuto Auto Parts

I had the wiper motor quit in my 97 gas ram back a few years ago.. there is a transition in there on if you had old style or new style wiper motor..had something to do with the splines on the motor.. but I could not find a remanufactered at any of the parts stores around Indy...last ditch try...called the dealer and figured I was gonna pay big for it...it was cheaper to buy new from dealer and included all new "transmissions" for wiper arms then to get a reman from parts stores...Just might wanna give the dealer a call... it surprised the hell out of me!

blue24valvecummins 02-07-2011 09:42 PM

u were lucky, i called my local chrysler dealer and they wanted $400 for the whole assembly. i went to my local napa store and the motor was only $74:rocking:

Joedodge63 02-07-2011 09:49 PM

OUCH! I guess times have changed! I paid , if memory serves, $104 bucks for it And at that time the remna were running about $130. But that was a while ago. Hope you have decent luck finding one for a fair price...you try eBay? There are several auto parts sellers on there that have fair prices, fast shipping and great rating! I would deal with anything less! I wish they made a winsheild that didn't seem to have flat spots in it...both my 96 & 97 have spot that just don't seem to wipe like it's flat spotted...winshield defect I guess.

AllWeatherBomber 02-10-2011 10:07 AM

My wipers have been doing the same thing...but i just deal with it. the cost of that repair is 0$. until i finally blow a gasket and then i guess it's wiper motor time... i thought i was the only one with the wonky wipers! thanks for the thread and the info.
