02 Dodge Transfer case... BUSTED!!
Well was headed home last night on the turnpike and felt the truck start to shake and thought nope this cant be good:nope: my transfer case shattered. busted the whole housing and all... :argh::dang: so im in search for a good used one or even new.. if anyone knows where i can find one or even has one let me know. its for a 3/4 ton with automatic transmission. 47RE.
Also does anyone make a heavier duty one? i was told on the 1 ton trucks the transfer case is built a little better or heavier. and will it bolt up to my truck?? If anyone has one within 400 miles of miami, oklahoma, 74354, i would be willing to come pick it up. my money is good :tu: i just need to get my truck back up and running... |
if youve got a 241, a 271 (someone correct me if i'm wrong) would be an upgrade.
Totally in many pieces? bobcat67 had his welded when it cracked and so far so good. |
Yup the 271 is the big boy of the t-cases. Common upgrade for pulling trucks.
your probably like most of us and have a 241dld and not the dhd
ya in many pieces!!! not just cracked totally shattered. dont know if welding will work on er. well i will think about getting that 271. will it fit right up on my 47re stock tranny? ya im pretty sure i have the 241dld but i would like to go with something heavier...
with an auto you would have dld
well got everything pulled out last night. broke that sum buck all to heck. and i do have a 241DLD. im looking for a 241 DHD now. im pretty sure it will bolt right up. just by all the research ive been doing oin it. but i havent found any info on if a transfer case from a manual will bolt up to a auto trans. is there any difference?????:humm:
241DHD will bolt right up, it was just a factory option, the manual one wont fit because its 29 spline and the autos are 23 spline. You need a 23 spline 241DHD.
ok thanks buddy. im looking into them now gotta wait till monday to make some calls. hopefully i get one coming quick.
Find a bad used one (but still rebuildable), then have it gone through (around $1200 to have it done). Otherwise, your going to pay at least double that to get one from a 4x4 shop, cause you don't have a core.
