metal pieces in the trans pan

i pulled the pan off the trans i got to put my VB in it, and there were lil piecesof metal in there. i pulled the forward hub and overything off the the front half of the trans, and didnt see where it could have came from. it looks like pieces of the retainer for the clutches. i dont think it came out of the overdrive unit.

i figure if it is out of the overdrive unit, it will probably already messed up the clutches and id have to rebuild it any how, so i put it all back together and put it back in the truck, and if it messes up, ill pull it back out and rebuild it right.

what do yall think

sounds like a good idea only reason i wouldnt think it would be a good idea is if it might cause harm to all your reusable parts:humm:

same problem

I had the same problem with mine. Guy who rebuilt it said it was piece's from the big clip that holds the overdrive drum in place.. If that sounds right? i dont know much about transmissions.

Could be that one of the bands is about worn out, its never good to have metal floating around in there, if you got the time and money you might as well rebuild it.

i got the time, just not the money. all the metal pieces is out of it now, at least all that i can find

I think I would pull it down. I lost the C-clip putting my valve body in one time. I was doing it on Dunrite's lift and Tony told me I HAD to get it out. When he had a shop in Southern California one of his guys lost one and they decided to let it stay. Ended up taking the tranny out. Metal floating around is NEVER good in mechanical things. :scare2::scare2::argh:

all the metal pieces in it that r loose are out.
