Front Axle and 4X4 light Problem
Can any one help???
I replaced the ball joints on my truck today (So I pulled out the axle half shafts)and after every thing was done took it on a test drive. And OH NO :argh::argh: My 4X4 ligh is on, on the dash and the truck is in 2 wheel drive. I drove around put it in 4 high then 2 wheel then 4 low then 2 wheel and it wont go away. Also when I got home and jack up the front end to check bouth tires spun on there own w/ truck in park But :argh: the front drive shaft was spinning. So is there any help out there??? :c: |
Hook up the vacuum hoses that go from the transfer case to the axle. They control the light and the actuator.

Ok Ill check agin tomorrow I shur thought it was but ill do a doubble any thing else?? thanks for the help:c:

Not much to em, as long as you got the seals back in the actuator and the lines are plugged in at both ends, to the transfer case and the axle that's about all there is to that.
|
as far as the seals in the actuator back in what are you talking about here im confused
|
Just the gasket between the housing and the axle.
|
ok ya i sure hope that stayed in place or i will have oil leaking out and down the inside of the tire? righ??
|
If you got it back in there it should be in place, not much of a chance for error on this project, it's either there or it's not. If it slipped out of place I don;t think your bolts would have gone through it. Haven't messed with it in a few years but I think the bolts pass through it if i remember right.

ok thank you :c:

a weak spot in your vacuum lines is under the t case where the metal lines come up and join to the plastic ones they have a big goofy rubber deal that is easily made better with about 2- 3" pieces of 1/8" vacuum lines. If they come disconected, it will leave your front end engaged. This is a really good way to have to have your front driveline rebuilt.
