01 Dodge 3500 Auto Tranny Problems
I've got an 01 Dodge with a rebuilt auto tranny, with only 3000 miles on it, and it just started bouncing between 3rd and OD.
At 50 mph the tranny can't decide if it wants to run in OD or 3rd and keeps shifting up and down. Any ideas? Thanks |

Most times this can be fixed with a inline noise filter. But it could also be internal transmission issues. It's hard for me to diagnose from here but I would start with a noise filter!

Ground the apps ground wire, black with yellow trace. Use solder and heat shrink, extend to the battery from the apps and the pcm and that should fix it. Worked like a charm on mine.:U: Try the free things first!

Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)These truck do not have throttle cables they use sensors to determine throttle postion.The pcm is Powertrain Control Modules (PCM)
this located on the passenger side of the truck.The problem is that your touque convertor is locking and unlocking this is done electronicly by the pcm.This is caused by electricial interference from the alternator.To fix this there is a black with a yellow tracer wire that comes from the apps sensor to the pcm you cut this wire and run it to the negetive side of your battery.While you are do that clean all your battery terminals to,check your grounds(black wire) on the block for cleaniess and tightness.Hope this helps.:pca1:This seems to be a common problem on these trucks. |
Better termed, While the truck has a throttle cable, The fuel control is done by the APPS sensor. A true fly by wire system is like a 7.3L with the TPS under the pedal.

Only 3000 miles. Take it back to whom ever fixed it and get them to fix it again under warranty.
