Stopping in to say hi and update

Took the truck into a transmission shop and had them hook it up to their diagnostic machine. They came back with a governor pressure solenoid and a governor pressure sensor. Quoted me about $750 out the door. Needless to say I went and picked up the truck. Ordered up the parts(just over $100) and had them swapped out in a couple hours time. Been working great since then.

Over the last few weeks the truck sprung a fuel leak. Took a minute to find it but I finally tracked it down to the fuel heater wires on top of the filter housing. Fixed that today and all appears good. Now on to some of the stuff I want to upgrade on the truck. :jump:

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Cool!! :tu: how are your new gauges working?

doublehbar 01-12-2016 09:34 PM

Fuel pressure gauge is the only one on the truck still and all is looking good. I'm thinking the trans gauge is next in line. Getting a little bored with looking at two empty holes in the gauge pod. Lol

You have a good Christmas?

Jet A Fuel 01-12-2016 09:42 PM

Yes it was a weird one tho it was 75 degrees Christmas day.:s:

I would do an egt gauge or boost gauge next.

doublehbar 01-12-2016 09:54 PM

Lol. T-shirt weather for Christmas!

Why do you say that?

Jet A Fuel 01-13-2016 09:44 PM

Good to hear the Trans is back up. thanks for the update. I wanted Santa to bring me a new turbo but the elves said :nope:.

doublehbar 01-14-2016 10:36 PM

Lol. I could've used a whole bunch of truck stuff from Santa.

Why did you recommend an egt or boost gauge next?

Jet A Fuel 01-14-2016 11:09 PM

That's the usual :": Trio that everyone uses to monitor the most important things on the engine.
It is also a good tool to use when your having engine problems like boost dropping off or exhaust temps getting high.
These are very important if your dragging a trailer and working the engine hard.

Ok. I might have to reconsider what gauges I was planning on purchasing then. So, considering upgrading the downpipe on the truck to a 4" as the next fun repair, followed by an airbox. Am I going to notice a difference in power as I do these?
